Anyone else excited by Miyazaki's latest anime feature? It's a less serious film like Totoro but the hand-drawn style looks to have the usual Ghibli charm. And it's got a really catchy theme song. :-0 The English dub is expected to be released here this summer (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-01-03/miyazaki-ponyo-to-open-in-north-america-this-summer).

The theme song is really cute. I was in Japan this summer and it was *the* thing. Every where you go, you hear the theme song playing.

It's been confirmed that they got Matt Damon to play the boy's father. Liam Neeson will be Ponyo's father.

haha! there's a cantonese version of the song floating on the net right now.
Apparently, the lyrics were re-written by HK pop singer Kay Tse and is performed by a 6 year old girl. Kay Tse also voices the mother of Sosuke. This marks her as the first mainstream HK actor/singer to do a Cantonese dub voice role for a Ghibli movie. They usually get miscellaneous voice actors for Studio Ghibli's Cantonese dubs.
