Survivor: Tocantins - The Brazilian Highlands -- (Back Row-On Truck) Erinn Lobdell, Benjamin "Coach" Wade, Sierra Reed, Jerry Sims, Candace Smith, Tyson Apostol, Debra Beebee and Brendan Synnott comprise the "Timbira" tribe while (Front Row-In Front Of Truck) James "JT" Thomas Jr., Joe Dowdle, Carolina Eastwood, Spencer Duhm, Sydney Eastwood, Stephen Fishbach, Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George and Sandy Burgin comprise the "Jalapao" tribe, which together feature the sixteen contestants set to compete in Survivor: Tocantins - The Brazilian Highlands, when the eighteenth installment of the Emmy Award-winning reality series premieres Thursday, February 12(8:00 - 9:00 PM ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Where's the Token asian? They have 2 models, and a hot bartender. I think it's going to be a good season.

have you been to cbs.com? they're pretty hot.

Some of my thoughts so far (Possible Spoiler):
man, that first vote was harsh. I knew they wouldn't be gone, but that was pretty cold. I feel bad for Susan (the old lady). I hope she can survive at least the first vote.

I think Sierra had it right building the camp. Even if you find the idol and use it in the first vote, you'll be gone in the second. You'll still be the outcast. if you can at least prove your worth and dedication, it can provide longer dividends.

EDIT:I had a feeling they were going to vote her out. which is heartbreaking. she was stacked. :( She would have looked great in next weeks challenge too! fighting in water.....damn!!!!

I also dont think sarah did a very good job searching 4 the idol...even I know how far a Pace is.

Sandy was pretty funny looking for the Hidden Immunity Idol, she didn't know a Pace or the Palm Tree.

The Janet/Timberlake Super Bowl incident was shown at CBS right? They have been pretty tight on ANY CRACK since then. LOL

Didn't connect with any of the Cast Away. Carolina getting voted off first didn't help.

well they finally stopped voting off the hot women. Coach would get on my last nerve if I were on his team, but I wouldn't necessarily want to cross him unless I had to.

Looks like Sydney's going to be doing some flirting in the next episode.

yea, it'll be interesting to see whether that alliance will hold to the merge. It's only 4 people strong, and barely even that. only brendan and Taj have spent time together, and it's not like the Sierra and Joe are on board yet.

And who knows what will happen with mergers or player swaps midway through the season. Too much game left to know what alliances are strong.

Speaking of which, we're 3 episodes in and we have to see distinct alliance of 4 or 5. Coach and Tyson are obviously all over each other, possibly TJ and Stephen, and Taj and Brendan may have an alliance, but there haven't been any clips of someone making an alliance of 4.

Hope the secret inter-tribe alliance works out and the 4 of them stick with it. They could really wreak some havoc, and Brendan would basically be guaranteed the win.

It's not a good idea to leave the II with anyone, the incentive is too high to **** you over and keep it, heck it should be hidden from everyone BUT taj.

So far, her exhibiting trust has paid off, i think that is partly due to strategy but more so i think she is trusting generally and that can come back to bite her in the ass. I think Taj and Brendan are the smartest players on the teams and they deserve to make it to the end IF (Taj especially) recognizes her vulnerability. Hopefully the anxiety caused in Tribal by J.T's back & fro will push her to cover her ass.

Finally, it makes great sense for the team to boot off the Blonde and keep Taj because they're going to the merge down 2, which means IF they all stick together, they would need to convert 2 to be in the driving seat which is unlikely. Therefore the value added of the Blonde (being loyal) is not effective in this scenario while Taj and her relationships is very very very relevant. Good move from the team.

And coach is still a Moron! :)

I finally caught up on the season. I hadn't watched the 5th episode, and then I couldn't watch the rest of them cause I wanted to watch the 5th one first.

anyways, Sydney was looking really good, and of course, she got voted off.

So far there hasn't been too much strategy in terms of alliances and stuff. JT seems to be in control of his tribe. Stephen looks like he's waiting for an opportunity to stay Taj in the back, he just wants to make sure it's in his best interest to do so.

There haven't been too many twists yet either. mainly cause the tribes aren't divided with little mini-alliances going at each other. I think now that they're merging, people will finally have to think about there moves, and strategize.

bembol
Apr 4th, 2009, 01:39 PM
If Brendan & Taj can keep their Alliance when they Merge I don't think the numbers between the two will matter. I'm saying this because of the preview shows him thinking about voting off her tribe since they have the advantage with 6-4.

Hoodwink
Apr 4th, 2009, 07:18 PM
It makes sense for Brendan to stick with Taj, Stephen and Sierra. There's no way any of them can beat him in the final 2. They definitely recognize that too and might try to backstab him later on, but out of the 4 Brendan's the best bet to win immunity challenges, which can free up the foursome to get rid of Tyson, JT, Joe, Coach etc.

If Brendan stays with his original 6 then I can see Coach trying to take him out.

Dash
Apr 7th, 2009, 09:34 AM
I don't know. Brendan is right about coach. he's a predictable player with a big ego. All you have to do is stroke his ego, and tell him that you respect him for keeping around strong players. Tell him that it's honourable to want to compete against the best, and not vote off threats because you're scared of them. that'll keep him in line.

anyways, I was thinking earlier today, that it's really a shame for brendan that Taj didn't align with Sydney. Then instead of stephen and brendan being on exile island, spooning and cuddling to stay warm, Brendan could have had Sydney instead. :D

Freckle that with "your character is forged in fire, strong like steel", "i may do the grubby managing, but you are leading, you are the leader", "your outdoor skills are impeccable, your defenses impregnable, your style delectable, when i grow up, i want to be just like Coach". Brendan so far (given the editing and what they want us to see) is playing the most strategic game. The more options you create for yourself in Survivor, the father you'll go. Will it be enough?

Apr 9th, 2009, 09:47 PM
The past seasons there seems to be an injury that sends a Survivor home.

Joe was sent home because of an Infection and pretty much saved Brendan from getting Blind Sided by his own Tribe!

Not sure why the "Exile Alliance" couldn't talk but next week's preview showed the time he needed to work things out with Taj, J.T., Stephen and Sierra. I think if they talk to Erinn I'm sure she will have no trouble switching to get Coach voted out!

I think it's all up to J.T. and which alliance he wants to side with.

Here are my favorites, I want to see in the Final Four...

J.T.
Tyson
Brendan
Taj

Hoodwink
Apr 9th, 2009, 10:13 PM
Tyson is hilarious. I don't know if it's all an act for TV but he seems genuine. Coach on the other hand is really annoying. He says he wants to keep the strong around, but his definition of "strong" is whoever doesn't pose a threat to him. Which basically makes him like everyone else out there.

eskimono
Apr 10th, 2009, 03:10 PM

Apr 11th, 2009, 06:07 PM
I think Brendan is in trouble. even though the preview showed him talking to his exile alliance, it seems that JT and Stephen have a better outlook with Coach, Tyson, and Debbie. Though I don't like Coach much, he seems trustworthy enough to stay with, and less of a threat at getting jury votes.

Of course, then they'd be going against 2 idols. That's the most dangerous part. From as far as I can tell here are the solid alliances:

Coach, Tyson, Debbie

Taj, Brendan, Sierra

Stephen and JT seem like they'll go along together with any group.

and then Erinn's just in no man's land.

So really, the fight is to get Stephen, JT, and Erinn's votes. They'll have to present them with very attractive offers to get their votes, and so far, Coach's 3some has made the best offer.

When Brendan, JT and Debra (just another tagging along, even if she makes it to the Finals she has NO CHANCE type Survivor, I hate these type.) won that Reward Challenge, I knew the two would get along and give the chance Brendan needed.

I guess at the end, JT made the call even Taj followed him even though she made a connection and started the Secret Alliance with Brendan at Exile Island.

I really wanted Coach out, he is one Cocky/Strange Mother****er! Sorry, I hate him. Tyson is too but he's at least funny. LOL They made Sierra cry.

I find it funny how Coach got attached to JT. I hope JT gets control of the game later and takes the "Dragon Slayer" out!!!!

If he is eliminated anytime soon, I might stop watching.

He's the only entertaining character they've got this season. Its too the point where he's the only person I actually know by name. His stories were ridiculously amazing. They were so far-fetched to be true but the way he was speaking about the experiences sounded like they really happened.

Personally, I like Brendon and I didn't want him voted out. But I understand why the group did what they did. It's typically standard in Survivor. Bring the @ss with you to final tribal hoping that the majority of the jury will vote for you.

God Sierra. Don't beg these guys to save your life. Be voted next. It ain't worth it, especially when you're not going to win the million.

thats how your suppose to play the game.

You bring someone everyone else hates to the final and basically they have no choice but to vote for you because they hate the other person so much.

The only morons in the game are the ones feeling good about being fair and bringing the most deserved players to the end. Anyone in that game who even thinks about bringing JT with them to the finals is just dumb and asking to lose. Honestly, I don't think anyone would vote against JT. The game is called survivor not be nice and fair. Its about survival and whatever you need to do to get yourself into the finals.

finally got around to watching the last episode. I thought it was pretty predictable that Brendan was going to get voted out. He was talking alot, but he didn't really get anyone agreeing to what he was saying. I think he started way to late. Had he approached people at the merge, he probably would have been able to get them to go along with his plan.

So, next week, It's probably definitely Sierra. What Sierra really needs to do, is break up the other groups. There are 8 people left. she needs 3 for a foursome. so she's got to appeal to outsiders at this point, and unfortunately, the only outsiders are Taj and Erin. The other 5 all think they're solid until the end, which of course is impossible. I think it's going to be boring and predictable up until the final 5.

Coach, Tyson, JT, Stephen, and Deb. and then from there, who knows.

but yea, JT FTW.

Sierra really shouldn't beg. she should just fight. try to win immunity. cause friction within the groups (I mean, she knows Taj has the other idol. might as well bait her out). And go out with your head held high. Then go to Ponderosa with Brendan and have a good time.

Dash

Just watched Ponderosa, and I really like Brendan now. He took voted out really well, and really maturely. He understands that it's just a game, and doesn't seem to be taking it with any anomosity.

The dude only lost 6 pounds apparently.

Ponderosa looks really rustic this year. They're sleeping in tents, on tiny cots, and the showers are just make shift water bags. The TV is tiny, and you have to hit it to make it work. I've seen years when they have big LCD's, with Playstation 3 and what not.

Anyways, you can watch it here: http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor/video/ponderosa.php

np.

if Coach, Tyson, and Debra do go down, it won't be because of JT. From what I've seen, he hasn't planned anything out, or made any plays. He just follows what others have planned. I'd say, Taj and Tyson are the ones who will be making most of the strategic plays. Coach likes to think he makes good plays, but really, he hasn't done anything. He's been going along with other people's plans.

So, I'd say, someone will need to convince Stephen and JT (At this point, I think of them as a pair) to leave Tyson and Coach (another pair). Otherwise, I don't see them making that move on their own.

Anyways, you can watch it here: http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor/video/ponderosa.php

you'll probably need a program like HotSpot Shield (that's what I use), to stream it off an American website.

I watched the Ponderosa with Tyson and Brendan at lunch, and it's pretty good. Tyson took getting voted out the same way Brendan did, and understands that it's just part of the game. not only that, but Brendan and Tyson are getting along great. "Brotherhood" as Tyson put it. They even laughed at how they both planned to vote each other out, and how they had numbers going in the merge. And how now it looks like their original tribe is the one in trouble.

finally got around to watching it. I thought that Sierra would get voted out in the beginning, but then I thought there could be the possibility that Debbie would, especially, since they got exposed so badly,

I don't think Sierra was really causing alot of drama. I think she just needed to prove her point, and she did it. Had they voted Debbie out, there'd be nothing left to say next week. but whatever, she was going to go sooner or later.

It was a weird vote. Taj voted for Debbie, and Erin voted for Stephen. I guess they just wanted to confuse people, or keep up the appearance of being in an alliance with Debbie and Coach.

I don't want Coach voted out. Mainly because I don't want him to go to Ponderosa. Ponderosa is so nice, and fun, with no BS or attitudes. I feel if Coach was there, he'd ruin the whole dynamic. The latest one had Sierra and the guys having a great time. And the homage that the Jury does next week is pretty funny.

Tiberius

I'm pretty sure the reasoning for JT, Steven and Taj is as follows:

1) With Sierra gone, things should be calm and "easy" around camp
2) By splitting the votes the way they did, it makes it appear that the "Warrior" alliance is together - making Coach and Debbie unlikely to cause problems
3) Erinn promised Sierra she wouldn't write her name down (Taj may have done the same?)
4) Having Taj and Erinn not vote with the group will make Coach and Debbie feel like they are in the Warrior alliance of 4
5) I 100% believe TJ and Steven think Coach lied to them, so they'll have no problem booting Coach.

The one puzzling bit was Erinn's vote for Steven, but that could have been planned to make her look less aligned with Taj, JT, and Steven? We'll know by Steven's reaction next week.

Overall, they actually set the votes up nicely to lull Coach and Debbie - if that is their plan to eliminate them and go JT, Steven, Taj, Erinn to the final 4.

It could actually be a great vote to keep people confused and unable to rally against you, and camp life happy.

I disagree with your analysis, mainly for the following reason. Sierra was an alliance of one, while Debbie and Coach is an alliance of two. JT and Steven don't have 4 votes, it was clear that the 3 votes that everyone assumes they have is not as reliable (Taj's vote for Coach). All Debbie and Coach have to do is to flip one (or vote in the direction with one outsider (like Erin) and exploit a similar opportunity where the Three don't vote as one and boom, a Jalapaonian is out. I don't think what they did yesterday was thought out fully and rationally, they probably succumbed to emotion.
2) By splitting the votes the way they did, it makes it appear that the "Warrior" alliance is together - making Coach and Debbie unlikely to cause problemsA bird in the hand is better than ten on a tree. The nuance being between the appearance of causing problems and the ability to cause problems (i.e. vote a Jolopaoian out). Eliminating the last remaining block of two and turning it into one would solidify camp life by turning the power Three into a fait accompli for the rest. It was a missed opportunity.

The one puzzling bit was Erinn's vote for Steven, but that could have been planned to make her look less aligned with Taj, JT, and Steven? We'll know by Steven's reaction next week. Exactly, one more streak like that and a wide open door would be left for the block of two to force a tie or possibly knock a Jalopian out. Stupid move if you ask me.

I can see your point - but think you have it wrong. I don't see any ***** the alliance between JT, Steven and Taj. I do think they are heavily counting on 2 things though (and if they turn out to be wrong... they'll pay): First is that Erin is solid at their fourth... I think they are correct here. Second, that Coach and Debbie will trust and believe they are stuck with JT and Steven and not scramble to do anything else (this also is likely a safe bet because at best Coach and Debbie could get a tie vote at this point by getting Erin - who I think has no loyalty or reason to go that route when she'd only get a tie... and I also 100% believe Taj is 100% solid with Steven and JT).

Bottom line - I chalk this up to editting. They are trying to make the remaining episodes a bit more interesting - but the reason you don't see much detail about Taj and Erin at this point is because they are solid and passively aligned with JT and Steven. To focus on that too much ruins the edit and the suspense and interesting twists. Instead, they only show brief tidbits of those 2. For instance, we see Taj for a second JT and Steven discussing the vote and she simply says... Erin feels no allegiance to Coach, Debbie and Sierra because they never showed it to her.. she's solid. That simple clip was all the info required about Taj and Erin. To omit the rest of the detail as to why they voted the way they did makes the show interesting and people like us have discussions like this.

I think you'll see it play out fairly simply from this point forward. Taj is 100% locked in with Steven and JT - not a hint of a chance she'll waver. Erin is highly unlikely to flip to Coach and Debbie or she would have tried to do so with Sierra already - and if she does so now, she just gets a tie vote... so she's in for the final 4 with JT, Steven and Taj.

The only possible twist is that Coach, Debbie, JT and Steven actually do become the final 4... oh wait... I guess I should clarify and say final 5! Obviously Taj would be there and at that point, JT and Steven and most likely to stick with Taj to the final 3 knowing she's unlikely to win because she didn't do much - under the radar, etc.

Let's see how it plays out...

I think erinn voted for stephen entirely because she said she wouldn't vote for sierra and probably figured stephen would not get any other votes and hers would be pointless. Also, stephen had the biggest WTF look on his face when the vote came out so he definately didn't know it was coming.

I don't think that JT pulled a better move than Yul. In that season they were outnumbered after the merge, and going against a very united tribe. Yul's move to turn Jonathon was the thing that turned the tables. JT didn't really make a move to turn anyone or divide up their tribe. Sierra, Brandon, and Erinn were already more than willing to go against their old tribe. And Even then Erinn was kind of a lone soldier who was willing to go with whatever they said so long as it wasn't her.

So, you had:

Taj, Stephen, JT
Tyson, Debbie, Coach
Brandon and Sierra
Erinn.

And since the Timbira tribe all disliked each other, they tried to get numbers by converting the jalapao tribe. They've made good moves, but I don't think they've made a great move that saved their asses, which in hindsight, was never really in danger.

That's what I figured would happen - JT and Stephen take Coach to final 3, then one of them double-crosses the other and takes guaranteed-loser Coach to the council with him. Stephen either made a mistake last week, or else he plans to bump off JT next, probably through his alliance with Taj.

I think it will come down to the first challenge tonight. Assuming one of the guys wins immunity, the girls should take out the other if they want any chance of winning.

I do agree taking Taj out was cold because they were tight from the beginning and she's not even a threat in the Challenges so that didn't made sense.

I thought stephen started make look JT look bad. After the tribal council I totally thought JT won it. Stephen who I thought was an excellent player seem to try and pin some of thie **** on JT, which one made him look petty, but two, it made JT look like he was actually playing the game.. lol

Yeah, it was refreshing to see somebody win Survivor by just being decent (apparently) for a change. He even kept his promise to take Stephen to the end, even though the tactical move might have been to dump him.

Bravo, JT, I've been hoping you'd win all along. (And Sierra too - wish she'd got the 100K, she could probably use it).

Now stop hugging Stephen and talking about sharing your prize with him - People are going to start spreading rumours.

I wasn't surprised when Stephen attacked JT about voting Taj off. At the Reunion JT admitted his reactions of being hurt by Stephen was part of the Game. LOL

Just finished watching the Reunion, I was surprised again that JT won but Coach not making the top three Fan Favorites was shocking?!?! It was between JT, Taj and Seirra?

Accidently changed the channel, I couldn't go back to see if there Jeff announced the next Survivor, was there a preview?

Yeah, next season they have to live under a bridge in Central Park.

(joking)

They're actually off to Samoa next. Hopefully they will be crushed by large Samoan grannies (like Bob Barker was) and chased by cannibals.

Time to ship them to northern Canada or Siberia next I think!

Did I miss it or they didn't give away a Car/SUV this season?

Haven't seen that in a while. Guess they can't even give away GMs now. Sad.

It was funny last night hearing Erinn taking credit for everything, including blindsiding Coach. I think her babbling was the real reason for JT taking Stephen to the end - he just wanted to make sure she didn't win.

+1. After JT won the last 3 immunity challenges, he pretty much had it in the bag. He would have gotten to the final 3 because of his alliance, but he got to the final 2 because he was the best competitor. Also, JT did a good job at Tribal at staying calm and focusing on the points that would be respected by the jury.

I didn't like how they voted out Taj. I thought that was unecessary. Otherwise, I thought JT made the right move taking Stephen. He would have beaten either one of them, and since they are pretty much the same in most aspects, JT wins out because of his attitude and competitiveness. It gives him a little more face, in front of the jury after voting Taj out.

dude, you're like one of the few that probably actually like Coach, which is all well and good. but I'm surprised that you think that other people would share your view. you must have been watching something different than the rest of us. I thought it would have been JT, Taj, and Brendon.

As cool as northern canada or siberia would be, there is a very small food supply. I think they choose tropical locations because there's lots of fruit and fish. They might not be able to survive it. All those expeditions hundreds of years ago ended pretty badly :)

Coming soon: Survivor - Canadian Cannibals!

They don't need to go to the Arctic. Algonquin Park might be remote enough, and there's food to be had there, I would think.

Another fun idea: Survivor - Fort McMurray Tar Sands. I don't think anybody would survive a fortnight in that one. (At least not without growing an extra leg).

I'd like to see Amazing Race visit Newfoundland too - it looks really interesting in the tourism TV ads and it would be neat to see a ground-level view of those fjords.

jt would have looked like a jerk if he voted out stephen so he could go against erinn for an "easy win".

erinn might have had a shot if jt did that...

I think Erinn might have gotten a vote. but she wouldn't have beat JT. Even if JT voted out Stephen, they still liked him much more than Erinn, and she really didn't do much to earn her way to the finals besides not being a big threat. I can't see them giving her a million dollars or voting her as being the best out there.

Super strokey
