View Full Version : Auto Car Rental - HERTZ - $14 per Weekend Day (Inclusive) / $96 per week (HOT!!!)
ChopSuey
Jan 12th, 2009, 02:22 PM
I noticed some car rental deals on here lately, and I decided to add one from Hertz that I think is very hot. By using PC # 127234 and CDP # 221417 (Aeroplan), you can save 50% off weekend rates and 50% off extra days as well. By using the extra day discount, you can get a one week rental using two reservations for $96 all inclusive!!! This deal works at YYZ (Toronto Airport) and should work for all airport locations in Canada (though pricing may be different).
Here is how you can get a week rental from Hertz for $96. Follow these steps:
Reservation #1: Book anytime after 12 pm Thursday to Saturday (2 days). In the example below, I picked 6 pm Thursday to 6 pm Saturday (Jan 15 - Jan 17).
Selected Vehicle
With unlimited free kilometers
weekend day 2 weekend days at 15.99 CAD
Rate Code MCLE
Additional Items Included In Total Approximate Charge:
Taxes 5.07 CAD
premium location charge: 2.94 CAD
vehicle licensing fee recovery & air cond. surcharge recovery . 3.20 CAD
energy surcharge: 0.88 CAD
Discounts
Promotional Coupon; 15.9 CAD for 127234 PROMOTIONAL COUPON HAS BEEN DEDUCTED FROM TOTAL RENTAL CHARGES applied
CDP Name AEROPLAN DISCOUNT NUMBER
Total Approximate Charge 28.08 CAD
Reservation #2: Book anytime after 12 pm Saturday to Thursday (5 days). In the example below, I picked 6 pm Saturday to 6 pm Thursday (Jan 17 - Jan 22).
Selected Vehicle
With unlimited free kilometers
weekend day 2 weekend days at 15.99 CAD
extra day 3 extra days at 15.99 CAD
Rate Code TMCE
Additional Items Included In Total Approximate Charge:
Taxes 12.48 CAD
premium location charge: 7.14 CAD
vehicle licensing fee recovery & air cond. surcharge recovery . 8.00 CAD
energy surcharge: 0.88 CAD
Discounts
Promotional Coupon; 39.9 CAD for 127234 PROMOTIONAL COUPON HAS BEEN DEDUCTED FROM TOTAL RENTAL CHARGES applied
CDP Name AEROPLAN DISCOUNT NUMBER
Total Approximate Charge 68.47 CAD
So in total, you pay $96.55!!! The only downside is that you have to go back to Hertz after the first reservation to start the second reservation. If you like the car that you picked up in the first reservation, just return it to the lot and ask the HERTZ rep you would like to keep the same car.
This deal should work till the end of March. Enjoy! :)

Is this for Hertz Canada only or US too?

Jan 14th, 2009, 02:48 PM
Looks like it works in the US too..however rates are different depending on airport location (checked FLL for Sat-Thurs = $145 USD).
Thanks OP, I need to pick someone up in Buffalo on Wednesday and daily rates were going to costs me $50/day...so at least I have a rental for the majority of the week.
My question is, is there an actual coupon that's available for printout? Sometimes, Hertz reps want to see a coupon...

If you guys aren't flying in or out of the airport in the 24hour period before you rent, you can get the PREMIUM LOCATION FEE waived. Just make sure you let them know (by default, they charge you) and make sure you get that noted/stamped on your contract. You may have to sign it to affirm that you haven't flown in in the past 24hrs.
Goodluck
Do you guys know if the Gold Membership thing automatically charges you after a year? Its worth it but it'll be even hotter if we didn't have to worry about an extra charge after a year.

Thanks very much OP.

Shouldn't be a problem: they do "electronic check in" where you would hopefully just show Driver's License and pick up the keys...
I (now) work near the airport, and needed a car this weekend for a ski trip:
I will take transit to the AIRPORT instead of home (downtown TO), and will pick up the car at Friday 6 PM.
Then, I will drive to work in the morning, and return the vehicle at 6 PM Monday evening, and take transit back to the Subway station.
So for $55, I got a mid-size car for the whole weekend, instead of just one day's worth. Now I won't be rushed to do my other errands, like grocery shopping etc. in one single day (with a Xcountry ski trip in the morning, it would have been very tight to also get some grocery shopping in!)
Thanks very much!
EDIT: looks like the RFD effect: when you attempt to use the coupon / rate code now, the web form shows some checkboxes and whatnot: when I checked in I was given a grilling by the woman, but got my car at even slightly LOWER than the rate when I booked. I think this deal may not last long if it's not already 'dead'.

It's the CDP for Aeroplan (which is free and alot of people have already anyways...) so no, as long as you have an aeroplan card, no problem. The email coupon comes in Aeroplan weekly deal emails.

Honestly, I find it way easier to walk around and take cabs in vegas, especially if your hotel is centre strip already. but if thats not your cup of tea, priceline is always a good bet for vegas. there are a few threads out there on bidding strategy using priceline so just run a search.

There are only two terminals now, T1 and T3. Any one of them would work. How long it takes depends on a few things: whether you are part of Hertz #1 Club, how many people are in front of you, whether you are familiar with the rental contract, whether your DL name matches with your credit card, etc..

I used the following AAA link (found on Flyer Talk) for Friday to Saturday rental as it gave me a $10 better rate:
https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/specialoffers/index.jsp?targetPage=aaa40off.jsp
''No question about it, the up to $20 discount offer in the January edition of AAA magazines was a great idea. And now we’re doubling the value of the offer up to $40 off for weekly or weekend rentals. This is a limited time offer and it's good for any car you rent. Just make sure to mention your AAA/Hertz CDP# and PC# 124821 in your reservations. Let Hertz put you in the driver’s seat.®''
Then I used PC#127234 and CDP #221417 for Saturday to Thursday.
Total cost of $183.29 instead of $278.74 for a Full size for a rental location in a skiing resort in BC. :D

Just came back from Kelowna and codes worked out great. Desk person asked me what the codes where from and told her CAA and Aeroplan. She had to call her main office to check the PC # but everything went fine. She nicely upgraded to a SUV for $2 a day extra and she reworked the numbers:
$24.02 for Friday to Saturday
$141.77 for Saturday to Thursday
$165.79 all-in for an upgraded rental  vs the $278.74 best rate I had found on the net before finding this thread and finally booking for $183.29.
I did not ask questions about how she got to $165.79 but enjoyed the deal. A true Redflagdeal!
Now let's see what kind of Aeroplan Miles will be credited for those rentals.
Cheers!

Help anyone!
Need to rent a minivan on July 24th to August 3rd and been trying to book something using priceline.com. I've used them in the past and booked an uplander and an ford edge for around $18 and $20 USD a day. I think i got a great deal on these for 4 days it cost me next to nothing and came with unlimited. I did have to pick up at the toronto airport but this was not big deal. Now trying to book a minivan for this time period with unlimited for our trip to S Carolinas and all my offers have been declined up to $50 ??? Im guessing it must have to be the time im booking. July is probably a peak time. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get a rental for cheap. Tried the hertz offer and getting quotes of $1450. Help anyone!

Yes and nope. Unlimited mileage makes it so you can drive it anywhere so long as you return it in tact with a full tank. Oh and please don't go out of your way to tell them WHERE you are going so that they may charge you.

as far as i remember, hertz allows you to drive their cars into the US. i checked their "terms and conditions" the last few times i rented from them. you should always check again, though.
note: i also recall that national, alamo and enterprise prohibit cars from being driven out of canada.

Not sure about Alamo, but you are right about Enterprise. National allows cars to be driven out of Canada but the renter is supposed to tell the location of the intention to take it outside Canada.

Yes and nope. Unlimited mileage makes it so you can drive it anywhere so long as you return it in tact with a full tank. Oh and please don't go out of your way to tell them WHERE you are going so that they may charge you.
That is not necessarily true. Certain car companies say it is unlimited mileage only if you drive it within the same province or a neighbouring province; if driven in the US, it may be restricted to something like 150/200 kms per day. See Thrifty as an example.

This is completely false about Enterprise.
They allow unlimited mileage in Ontario (so I'm guessing in your province)... and then say if you want to go to another nearby province or State (ex. Montreal or New York), you can for another $5 a day. Going to more southern states would add another $5. This is if you want unlimited mileage.
They also offer a limited mileage plan to other states/province with no additional cost... but if you go over it's like 25 cents a km... so I opted for unlimited... though they did offer more than enough kms...
Hope this helps... I've rented from them numerous times and know a lot of info.
