Ok, I'm pretty confident I am getting into schulich. Over 90 average, some great extra activities/volunteer. I'm working on the application and got two of my buddies old application for samples...
I was wondering, if I use bits and pieces of it will york know and reject me?
Do they save the applications from previous years?

Umm, if you can live with the fact that you plagiarized an essay, then go right ahead!
If you honestly need to cheat your way in..... nevermind.

Honestly, do you REALLY want to risk it? Your achievements have given you a shot into getting into a great program... are you sure you want to risk blowing it due to one act of laziness?

Whether they catch you or not, I don't want the quality of students to drop at my school next year.

Actually, Schulich doesn't mind repeated courses... which makes me doubt the "quality" of the students they acquire. To me personally, I feel Queens/Ivey/UofT have some of the hardest requirements. Sure, UofT's cutoff may be 5% below Schulich's, but UofT requires calc, Schulich does not. UofT cares about repeated courses (as I believe they take the average of the 2), Schulich makes you fill out a form on why you had to repeat certain courses (which you can easily BS about).
Nevertheless, people still continue to apply to Schulich. I guess the main reason why I'm applying is the closeness to home, and I don't want to fork out big bucks for tuition/rez for Ivey/Queens when I know that I have postgraduate plans that I need to pay an arm and a leg for.
I don't mind people acquiring past forms, that's fine... but only to get an IDEA of what to write. What bothers me are those who steal "ideas" or copy certain lines, or copy the whole thing for that matter! That's absolutely wrong. But I'm willing to bet they carry these on file.. doubt you'd get caught though (since they don't have these on computer, rather, they have them on file, and nobody is going to check every single appliation at Schulich to make sure past answers were used)... not that you should do it. Academic misconduct is not something you want to attach to your name.

It'd be hilarious if he didn't make it in after being so confident.
Btw, I don't care if you're plagiarizing on your Schulich application, just don't come to Queen's Commerce!

I wrote those essay questions sitting in the back of my grade 12 econ class. I'm actually not even 100% sure how much they read into the essay questions because they weren't that great imo but I still made it.
Anyways dude if you can't even write your own supplementary app let me just say you will be royally ****ed if you do make it in. Also, judging by your reply to NiftyScent I'd say you're pretty cocky...remember university is a whole new ball game. Getting in is just the beginning, you better be ready to work your ass off to stay in.

Sounds pretty solid. I had a spanking 92 average and stellar EC/leadership but I still didn't get in. Mind you this was back in 2005 maybe things are different now. I figure its a bit random with so many quality applicants, but I know enrollment is much much higher than it use to be. My only suggestion would be to take "tough" courses. All maths, English and Sciences. Good luck!

i believe there is nothing wrong with what Anthony is doing. There is nothing wrong with looking at past essays for refrences and ideas, as long as u formulate your own answers. If you guys all had possession of older applications, you would use it as a refrence
so dont come hard on him.
and to answer your question, you never know if they will know that you copied, so the best thing to do is just get ideas from it and dont copy it word for word

Anthony where do u go to private school? That place should be shut down.
Paying for marks is wrong:mad:
Don't get so confident just beacuse you get into Uni doesn't mean you will graduate.Sure we might see you next year but for how long? (The first two months) before you fold under the pressure. Private school is gonna #$%#% your chances of surviving. People like you fail first year, just work your a$$ off the real way and you will make it and survive.
Buying Marks=Failing Uni
keep it coming, see you all in school next year thats wrong cuz your gonna drop out by the end of 2009.
END OF RANT

If you can't write an essay, mind as well not go to Schulich. All the programs you will be entering, will likely to ask you to write an essay for an assignment. It's better to start off scratch and avoid plagiarism. My $0.02......:razz::razz::razz::razz::razz:
