My lil sis applying film studies at Ryerson in fall 2009. Her high school projected mid term grades:
ENG4U1 80%

75.6 is cutting it close, so ask your sis to start asking for %'s or extra credit, 1 or 2% in each class will go a long way

Generally her marks look good, just needs to improve that one course. What is that HHS4M1 course anyways? Isn't it the top 6 gr 12 marks? If it's not a mandatory one, wouldn't there be other gr 12 marks that can be used?

I did some looking around and I did find that for Image Arts says you need at least a minimum average of 70% and to be considered for eligibility, but you need at least 60% in each class as well.

For a course like Image Arts, I'm certain it's the extra stuff is what counts.
You need a portfolio, resume and a written statement. And for film you also need a project outline.

When I applied to the New Media option (4 years ago), I recall having to worry about getting at least 65% in my English class, but I think that was it.
My portfolio was of images and compositions, but for film I have no idea so I can't help there. The written statement was like an assignment, they gave me a topic to write on and I did like a 2-page write-up on it.
The admission sheet above does say you need ENG4U, which your sis has so she's fine.
The only thing she needs to worry about marks wise is that HHS4M class. She's gotta get it up to the min 60%
Hope that helps!

Those are some easy bird courses wow. My school doesn't even offer any of those. Is she really trying? You should be getting atleast 80% in all of those courses, besides maybe English.

Yeah that's a course that could be improved easily. Besides that, the other marks look solid. And secondly, don't they just look at the top 6 marks? That looks like an elective that isn't really too important :S

Marks are one thing, but she'll also need a good portfolio, resume, and essay writing skills as part of the supplemental application.
I applied last year and got in (decided to take a 5th year of high school to up my marks a bit). I had about an 85% university average.
I've applied again this year (now with a 90% university average), but again, competetive marks definitely count for a good portion of the application, but the portfolio, resume, and writings will make up quite a bit. Do you know if she did well with those parts?
