So, from my memory York U has had 2 significant strikes in recent times.
since the contract currently being offered by the university is a 3 year deal, and the union is seeking a 2 year deal (according to the other york u strike thread) this means that any new students hoping to go to york in september will likely have their education interrupted again before they can finish a 4 year undergraduate degree.
with this in mind, how many of you [prospective university students] are still considering applying for York U for this september? and how many of you, who are currently students at york, are considering transferring out?

I will probably be staying at York because I actually enjoy my program and I'm too lazy to transfer.
We will be better prepared to make cupe's life hard in 2010; I'm sure the students who went through this strike will be prepared to put up a fight.

I'm with Spikyazn with this one. I really like my program and the school and won't transfer out. I would like to think the president of york will take more precautions to avoid the possible strike in 2010.

i've applied but it was my last choice! The only reason that I applied was that if i go to york then I can stay home and save a tone of cash... otherwise that money should be spent on rez!

This may not apply to you and it will depend on your situation.
If you are applying for OSAP, they cap the loan amount at 7 or 7.5k, and any amount above that is given to you in the form of a grant (free money). So lets say you are entitled to a 10k loan, you are actually loaning 7k and 3k is given to you. Therefore, this makes studying away from home not that much more expensive since the loan amount is much higher when you go to school away from home. Your parent(s) are probably going to have to have lower to middle class income usually to qualify for an amount like that.
