I'm currently using sony DSC-T20 and I'm not too happy with the quality of the pictures. Can anyone tell me which camera out there now is the best?

I have a Fuji F100fd camera and its a really good point and shoot. The menus are not as nice as Canon, but the image quality and colors produced are excellent. It also has slow-synchro flash for indoor and night time photos.

I'd say the Canon D700X MKIII is the best.

To the OP.

Obviously you can see that the consensus here is that your question is much too vague and has been asked numerous times.

You need to give us more information. At least do some research and single it down to 2-3 models you want some feedback on. Figure out how much moeny you want to spend, whether you want a P&S or a DSLR, what kind of photography you want to do, how much experience you have etc....

Your question is like asking "I just got my license to drive, what car is good for me?"

Help us out a little and you won't get the answers like above...as witty and funny as they are, they prolly are not helping you...

Even that, if you have no idea how to use your camera, you'll still produce terrible pictures even with the most expensive model you can find. If you ask a question as vague as that, chances are you've got no clue... and that's not always your fault :)

Why medium format when you can go large format?!?!?

The Hasselblad is the most expensive DSLR on the market at US$38,000. What's the cost of a large format DSLR?

well, i really don't know?! I am a total rookie... just something small, but yet can take nice photos... u know, a camera for dummies! lol... as cheap as possible. the camera i have now is 8.1mp, but the resolution seems so low. perhaps it's the setting in my camera?

thanks for your help, guys!

Based on your reply, no offense, but the problem is probably you rather than the camera :| My dslr is 6.1MP and I think it's plenty of pixels.

However, if you want a nice and cheap camera, you can get the Canon SD1100 IS for about $130+tax. It has recently replaced my Optio S4 as my backup.

Interesting that you mentioned that since I actually had no idea. I looked it up.

Doesn't seem there is a large format digital back yet. They use a medium format digital back and just use the cropped image :(

A friend of mine has a Hassleblad. It's kinda big but the pics come out very nice blown up. Obviously not for the average consumer.

I'll throw another vote up for the SD1100 IS as well. My lady just got one over the holidays and it's actually a very good camera. The color selection also make it a fashion accessory...lol

Gotta appreciate large number of not helpful responses on the net :)

I think you have a decent camera. As mentioned, It will more helpful if you read up what makes a photo come out good / bad. It is always hard to take good pix in low lightning condition. Try to understand how to use light to your advantage.

Good Luck

Unfortunately, when you start saying that 8.1MP seems low and that camera settings may be the reason for your concern really starts to point to a user problem rather than camera problem.

What exactly don't you like about the pictures your current camera takes? What type of environment are you taking pictures in?
What are the settings you use on the camera? (Please don't say AUTO)

I don't want to jump to conclusions, but so far, replacing the camera may not be helpful to your situation....

Maybe your camera's settings are wrong?

If you want some advice on a new camera, at least post a rough idea of what you want to do with it and your budget. Otherwise you're not going to get any useful responses.

This is 4 megapixels from a Canon G3. Five year old technology, less than a year experience.

Prints 14X20 with no problems.

OP,

Without knowing what your budget is, it's rather hard to make a recommendation. You give me this feeling that a DSLR would not be suitable for you. If I were to get a point and shoot, it'll be either the Panasonic LX3 or Canon G10.
