Da*n it, da*n it, (darn it) - I just waited, and waited for a sale, saw none, so just LAST WEEK picked up hundreds up pics. at .15 cents each! Arrrrrrrrgggghhhh!

Thanks though, for the excellent post, OP! This will save some other RFD'ers some money. :) (Heck, if I have until Jan. 18th, maybe I'll find a whole LOT of photos, LOL! :) )

shoppers currently has a promo for $0.10 (min 50 prints)...no mention of max or expiry on flyer.

IMO- Shoppers are no match for Costco...how do you know Costco will have this sale? Do they have every year? I got in the one a few mths back.

Perfect!! Uploaded almost 200 pics on the weekend in anticipation of a sale, and it came!

IMO the February sale is good, but it's only a savings of $2 on 100 pictures vs. this sale. Going to process order now.

Where are you seeing this $0.10 promo for Shoppers? Online on their site it is currently $0.15 after 101 prints.

Usually with the coupons, you have to show the actual coupon when you pick the prints up as well.

i've never been asked for any coupons. All their "coupons" are typically codes you enter during checkout.

So is Costco offer much better quality prints than shoppers, I just get 50 prints from shoppers, and it is pretty decent.

Isn't it smaller than 4X6? If you know how to edit the photos with Photoshop or something similar and combine them into a one file photo collage, you can put multiple photos into one photo file that will be printed at standard size (4X6, 8X10, 20X30, etc..). Once done just cut them to size using metal ruler and box cutter.

I've done this many times. Printing different kind of photo sizes into one large 20X30 and cutting them to size ends up cheaper. The only draw back is that it takes time, effort, sharp eyes, and steady hands to cut them up. :cheesygri

PhotoLab does wallates 4 on a 4x6 alittle small if you ask me but not bad I forget how much they are but I done a few like this.

if you go to costco with your pictures burned on a dvd, will their machines take the dvd? is it easy to just select everything and print it?

also do they print the file name on the back? is there anyway to match up the pictures to the file name? need to print a few dvds full of wedding pics and get back to the photographer with which prints we want enlarged

Yep. In Photoshop, open up a new blank file with the correct size you want it printed as (i.e. 20X30, etc.) and the correct dpi setting (resolution) that Costco specifies. This will be the mat on which all the photos will be printed on.

After that open up the individual photos, size them correctly to the size it is going to be and the same dpi as the mat, and then copy, paste, and arrange the photos on the mat so that they don't overlap.

Last step is just to save the file as jpg with high to maximum quality compression. Bring them to Costco to print, one important note, print borderless since adding border will shrink the mat and consequently shrink all the photos in the collage.

I have not tried printing at SDM, but the step should be very similar. :cheesygri

Too much trouble to resize photos down to 8MB(?).

8MB is quite large for a jpg image - are you using a different format or are you printing posters?

www.kodakgallery.ca has a promo on now: 150 photos for $15.00, 15 cents regular. They can ship to an address or to Best Buy/Futureshop.

You can get the discount code when you visit the site.

Kodak paper is generally better quality than other photofinishing.

Yay now we can print all of our Christmas photos! Costco has its 12 cent 4x6 photo promo on again, this time I don't see any min or max. Use promo code CWNYA1A5 in their online check out. Only good until January 18th though.

IME, Costco photos are the worst - even Loblaws is better. I printed out 500 a few months ago when they had a 10c deal, but they were dark and lifeless.

I am going to try Black's - prints are normally $.29/each but they have a deal on where you get 300 prints for the price of 200 (so $.19/each). I've heard they have the best quality prints out there.

They also have some amazing photo books you can get, for not much more than the cost of regular prints. If anyone's ordered one of them, are they any good?

The only time I had a problem with Costco was when I deselected the colour correct feature. Black's IMO is not worth 7 cents more per print. BTW costco has a satisfaction guarantee so if you didn't like the prints you can ask to have them redone, or just return them.

i did 175 prints at costco 3 weeks back, with color correction off, and they were just as i expected. a few of them were redone by costco as they had initially printed out blurry ( so they gave me two copies of the same pictures in the pack )

regardless, i am happy with the prints.

it might just be that if you're not the type that tweaks everything ( process everything in raw/cr2 before jpeg ) .. then you need the color correction on it, or you need black's extra care per picture printouts. +money.

I have tried Black's, Costco and Walmart, and the quality went in that order, with a tiny edge to Black's.

Not worth the price difference IMO, which is why I stick with Costco as well.

they won't do this price in store? whats the price in store? got way too many pictures to upload15 cents in store. I uploaded 300 before Christmas no problem. You can drag and drop 100 at a time, if your files are to large, save them down, you don't need huge files for 4x6 prints.

I did a test, sent the same 5 images to numerous labs and for the price costco definitely came out on top for me.

I use photography forums pretty heavily and costco is a big favourite for the pros when they are printing their own personal prints. I have a calibrated monitor and do all my colour correcting on my own and then deselect the colour correction option when I send it in. If you even want to take it one step further, you can get the printer profiles for your costco location at http://www.drycreekphoto.com/ Not very many places that give you that option and level of control.

Its awesome how they let you even customize what get's printed on the back of the image.

If you use the Costco.ca web client and select "faster upload", I think resizes and uploads on the fly.

my last 2 batches were done thru costco and no complaints. best prices out there by far. LD, BB, FS are a rip off when you start to get into bigger prints.

I've been happy enough with my costco prints in the past. Lately I've been using up the free print offers I could get from photolab and kodakgallery.ca (fs or bb pickup).

Do they have a deal on larger prints now also? A bit off topic....I want to get a 12 x 16 done but I'm concerned about the huge file size being an issue. Anyone had experience with this? I think when I tried this at costco a couple of years ago the machine at the store wouldn't accept it. I'm assuming a 60 mb tif will result in a better print than an 8 mb jpg - but maybe it doesn't make much difference.

Somewhere in this forum it was posted that Shoppers Drug mart had a sale on prints for 10cent each. I usually do my printing at Costco too....but am wondering....how are the prints at Shoppers?

I think they only do 12X18 max. The specs for the printer (Noritsu) in the Costco near my house is 300 ppi, I just set the image size to 12X18 inch (3600X5400) with 300 ppi resolution, save as jpg with quality level 12 (maximum) in Photoshop.

Thanks....maybe I'll try that and see how it works. I think my setting now are 240 ppi, but that was just the default setting.

I checked every Canadian site I could think of and the prices for 12 x 16 (or 12 x 18) are crazy everywhere except Costco. It's about $3 at Costco and between $10 & $14 everywhere else. I added two inches of white space to the bottom of my 12 x 16 so I can get it done at costco.
