HD TV & Electronics in Scarborough (Bamburgh Circle) has the Samsung LCD 40" LN40A450 $699. It's a 720P LCD model but seems to be at a great price point -- I believe the big box stores were all selling the older 400 models?

Maybe I'm wrong but isn't the PN code model for Samsung a plasma TV not an LCD (LCD is LN code I think)? Costco have the PN42A410 42" plasma on for $789 so this seems like a reasonable deal to me.
Do you have a flyer link or anything?

You guys are right. It was the current LN model.
They have the PN42A450 at the same price too.
No flyer but it is available in store.

I bought the LN40A450 from Leons on Boxing Day for $699, and for the short time I've had it, its been a great set. I couldn't be happier with it.
I don't mind at all that its not 1080P since its not all that large a set, and in 720P it looks great.

The PN42A450 is an ok deal at 699. Both of these tvs were 680 at sears boxing week using a coupon. The PN42A410 has the same specs as the A400 model that has been on sale for 587.
The problem with the LN40A450 is that the samsung LCD screens differ depending on which panel you get, at least as far as the reviews I read. In the end, I got scared away from it.
Prices will probably go down anyway.
Bought the PN42A450, very happy with it, even with the 1024x764 panel. Great SD quality and HD looks fantastic.

Sounded like a pretty good deal when I was there picking it up. Since it was a new model and they had stock without the "only on boxing day" sales pitch.

I picked up the PN42 for 680 as well. Very happy with it. 699 for this set was one of the FS doorcrashers on boxing day, and is also a good price.
But really people should decide 1st if they want LCD or plasma based on their situation. For mine (no gaming, not looking for a tv monitor, darkish room), plasma was an easy call, others might find lcd an equally easy call.

It was $649 during their boxing day sales. I'm 100% sure you can get that price if you pay cash. It may take a bit time and talking to them.
Yes, they are selling the "S" panel in the Asian stores. I got my 32" with "S" from Golden Electronics in Richmond Hill.

Same situation as me. Pretty easy call. I MAY use it to watch movies through my laptop, but as long as I'm watching it full screen, I'm not worried about burn in. I was surprised at how BIG this panel was. 42" vs. 40" for the LN panel was big for me, but the actual size is 42.3" which is a real bonus.

Yes, its impressive how much bigger it is on my wall than it was in the showroom as well :) I'll definitely try some downloaded video on it, but have a suspicion that it may wind up looking worse than on my computer's LCD monitor.

Did the 699 include tax already? The guy there usually quotes taxes included which would make this deal much better than 680 at sears which probably doesn't include tax.

Hey, I bought my LN40A450 from Sears for $680 and got a "A" panel and couldn't be happier. I went to check my firmware and it says:
T-CRLAUSC-1018.0, COMPILE DATE OCT 27,2008

watch TVs for the first 100, 200 hours or so and you won't have to worry about burn in anymore. It can happen but not likely after a certain amount of usage.

Cool. Enjoy. We've picked up a few TVs from them -- they always have great prices on new/current models.

FS has 4 left in Ontario(14th & Markham) & for $899(absurd). Hence $699 is excellent.
