Not the greatest game...but fun to have when having a party...

I've been tracking the price for a while so figured it might interest some :)

I would say that this is one of the best games on the PS3 if you don't like shooting weapons. Absolute riot and the download store is sweet.

FYI PS3 Owners: If you own a SingStar for PS3, you can use all the other PS2 SingStar discs for more songs. Even if your PS3 isn't backwards-compatible. You just load up the PS3 game first and then you can swap in a PS2 disc.

Definetly hot deal at this price. Great party game especially if you hook up a webcam and watch videos it took of you and your drunk friends acting like fools. Now with the ability to play ps3 singatar discs on any ps3 it makes it even more worth it as you can quickly build up your collection of songs. The online community of singstar is great. Lots of videos of peoples performances. Only downfall is the online store for downloading songs has been painfully slow in releasing new material ontime. Not to mention most of the songs are not new. Hoping sony will rectify this in the new year.

If you don't need the mics, HMV is a much better deal for $10.

http://www.hmv.ca/hmvcaweb/en_CA/displayProductDetails.do?sku=1237075

The mics are usually $20 by themselves.

Forget Amazon. I bought mine from HMV 2 days ago, and they're selling them for 9.99

http://www.hmv.ca/hmvcaweb/en_CA/displayProductDetails.do?sku=1237075

The sticker in store says 59.99, but once it's scanned, it's 9.99
They're trying to do a buy 2 for 30 each when I went.

There are still about 4 left in Edmonton South Commons HMV if anyone cares.

What's the cost of downloading songs?

Single Songs are around 1.49 to 1.99, not quite sure whether that's CAD or USD.

Some song packs are 6.99

I haven't purchased any myself. But I've been reading through the PSN forums, and average downloads / song are around 40 minutes to worst case 4 days. There's something wrong with the servers. It's crazy, 40 minutes download for a single song.

Some decent songs are online in the singstar store. But that's just my opinion.

Honestly, I tried to get the 10$ deal @ HMV but the inventory was always wrong and gave up...

And if you add the gas to go get the game @ HMV and then to find the mics...well I'd rather wait for them to come to me :)

I scored a couple of $10 PS3 Singstars.. visited a nearby futureshop that had the entire Singstar PS2/PS3 titles for pretty cheap and bought one of each..

Haven't tried but hear the Mics work on the Wii for similar Mic games.

Be careful when you go to the store to buy it...

When I got mine, the cashier scanned it at $9.99, but then looked at the price tag and tried to adjust the price to $31.99.

I had to complain... luckily I came prepared with a printout from the website.

Can you tell me which games were $10 (PS2, PS3)? I'm assuming the individual games and not the bundle?

I think he meant he just got a couple of the ps3 singstar games.. like the same game but just a couple of copies for $10 as hmv has the game only for $10...

u can pricematch at futureshop or bestbuy to get it for 6.99 if its still 39.99 there.. but i think i saw it for 19.99 at bestbuy now.. or mabye 24.99...

but for like 8 or 9 dollars for game only... really great deal..

Unfortunately, it's only the PS3 Singstar Vol.1 (without mics) that is on sale for $9.99. I was hoping the PS2 versions would be on sale too...

This is a great deal if you get a deal on Singstar Vol.2 with mics, like I did on boxing day at the Sony Store. :)

I saw the mics with no game selling at wal-mart and zellers for $20 before. Pretty sure that's the regular price everywhere.

That sucks... guess the sale is over.

Keep in mind that it is on for 2/$60 at the store (not online).

Vol 1 with the mics should be around for $39 - $49 because they are clearing them out now that Vol 2 is out.

Can you tell me if the PS2 version of the game works on the PS3?

With the new patch, yes. Even with the new, non Backwards Compatible PS3s. It's a swapping system

Single Songs are around 1.49 to 1.99, not quite sure whether that's CAD or USD.

Canadian - That's what I DO love, it's fantastic :)

And yes, the song packs are a bit more, but make note that there is only 1 song pack for North America, the Xmas one. They've got all the cool songs packs in the UK though.

Cold compared to HMV

Uh no, not if you don't have the mics, which are generally $20 on their own. So here you get the game for $10 and the mics for $10. Simple as that :)

Shame that Singstar Vol 1 has crap for songs, even at $10 :(

Not my wife's style at least. Which is where Singstar Abba came in ;)

Do you know if you can copy the songs onto the hard drive, or do you have to insert the disks all the time to play the songs?

Nope - you have to disc swap. Great, huh? Rockband was able to easily allow the export, but not with Singstar. It's so frustrating. Sigh.

Has anyone bought any songs from the Singstar Store yet?
So far I bought 7, and only 2 (MC Hammer - Can't Touch This, TopLoader - Dancing in the Moonlight) of them actually has the voice track loud enough.
The other 6 (Panic! At the Disco - I write sins not tragedies, Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give you Up & Together Forever, Billy Joel - Uptown Girl, WestLife - The Rose) voice track is so low and kinda faded out so that you can't really follow the song unless you already know it. It annoys me cause I like being able to hear the voice track. Wish the game allowed you to adjust the voice track like done in Rockband. Does anyone know how to differentiate between a song with a low volume voice track and one with "normal" volume voice track? Anyone know of a list?

Update: Seems like I didn't play with the options enough. In the Options, when setting up Microphone, you can enable/disable voice reduction. Funny though that the voice reduction didn't work on the other songs eventhough it was on. Thought I'd let ppl know in case they encounter the same prob.

Thought I'd let ppl know that when you use the PS2 singstar games with the PS3, you can still record the audio and video (given you have the camera), but it won't allow you to upload that video (and audio I believe) up to your Online Profile.

To change the volume of the original vocalist, I went to the Options menu. It has an option to turn on or off the vocal reduction. (I think you can set it to "auto" which will lower the sound when the player is singing and raise it when they are not singing - but I found it didn't work all that well).

I would assume that all of your songs have vocals, and that some of them played with the vocal reduction on for some reason.

It would be nice to confirm this with the downloaded songs... I can't, because I haven't downloaded any songs yet.
