almost all the notebooks (IBM Lenovo, HP Compaq, Dell) I seen/used have either the vent or fan at bottom. Check your's wife's Thinkpad again.
The HP I am using right now has side fan exhaust but there are couple vents at the bottom so air can sucked in and blow out from the side.

Are you sure it's OOS? I know on the description page it says temporarily out of stock, which to me just means "on backorder" because i was able to still add it to my cart.
As for what i think of it, i thought enought to order it for myself and as a gift, hoping the recipient will enjoy listening to radio stations from around the globe. I read that the interface is very nice with a world map to help you locate the countries/cities/towns you may want to listen to. Just my 2 cents.

No, this is not like putting the laptop on any flat surface. All laptops are designed to be placed on hard surface, with rubber feet elevating the units a few mm above the hard surface. And that few mm of air below the laptops is important - it was assumed when they designed the ventilation air flow and heat dissipation. The cushion basically blocked any possibility of ventilation below the laptop and possibly trapping heat as it would act like a blanket.
Short period of usage should not be a problem, but I would certainly watch out for the notebook temperature during prolonged use. Maybe using this with the Thermaltake iXoft cooling pad would be an option for prolonged use.

An internet connection seems required for the Aluratek jukebox stick. Reviews seem to indicate that when it works, people love it. But often it doesn't. One says specifically best not to give it as a gift, some computer geek knowledge may be required. Also says manual not of much help.
Here's a lengthy review with lots of pictures:

I bought this cushtop last time around. It's just over 15" wide. The foam is very firm and the material is thin, so there's still room for the vents to work. If anything, it vents better than if it was sitting on my lap (Dell 6400). Also, it keeps my lap from getting hot. The one thing, I use mine backwards, with the higher end towards my stomach, otherwise, it's too weird an angle. My normal seating position is on the couch with my feet up. I think it was worth $20 delivered.

I believe for bigger laptops, you invert the cushion because it's shaped like a pyramid so there's more surface area on the bottom.
Bought the cushion a couple of months back on Dell when it was $15. A great little product. An additional benefit is that when you have it on a coffee table like I do, it allows you to swivel the whole thing (laptop and cushion) easily, whereas you couldn't do that with just the laptop and its rubber tabs.
Also, the cushion surface is firm enough so that there's no bunching up of the fabric to potentially block any bottom vents. My laptop is on there for 3 hours every night for the last couple of months and I've had no problems.
Is this for a 15" laptop? I can't locate the size specs on this thing.

Anyone planning to buy the "Aluratek USB Internet Radio Jukebox" for $19.99, consider the following:
- Get a 512k USB memory stick for $3 from your local computer store; and
- load "Screamer Radio" onto it from: http://www.steamcore.se/
That's it. You now have the same functionality as the Aluratek, but at a fraction of the cost. Also, Screamer lets you record whatever is playing into MP3 format. Every song gets recorded into it's own MP3 file. Simply copy the files onto your iPod/Zune/etc and you've now got free music.

Thought about the Cushtop, but I believe this thing would be absolutely brutal for computers - like the Macbook Pro I have - which is designed to sit slightly off a flat surface. Unlike most plastic-cased laptops, the metal bottom of the Macbook is supposedly designed to act as a large heat sink - and if it's in contact with a fabric surface, it won't work very well. I was told by Apple to only ever use it on ridgid surfaces.
On a table it is no problem since, as an earlier poster said, the feet will keep it just ever so slightly off the ground allowing some ventilation.

Well, as suspected the PS3 should be getting a price drop around March, so I'd say its a 50-50. (Just talk and rumors.)

On a table it is no problem since, as an earlier poster said, the feet will keep it just ever so slightly off the ground allowing some ventilation.
Yes and No. If your laptop has a 12 cell battery that sticks out like a sore thumb this is cushtop will work just fine. But with flat batteries this is a horrible support for the laptop. I currently have two of these and one laptop is using a 12 cell and the other laptop is using a Targus Cooler which is sandwiched between the cushtop and laptop. So this combo is working fine.

Also arrived today, shocked.
fyi- it's quite firm, so it's not like a cushion as i thought. So, it's like putting it on a firm surface.
Also, it's sized to fit 15" or flip it for 17".

I don't want this USB Internet Radio, cause the internet cable has download limited(for my rogers is 60G),this radio is a download killer ,if you listen it 12 hours a day ,in two days you will get the limit 60G.I don't want to pay another $25 for unlimited download.

Is it really that much of a bandwidth pig? Do you know if there's a way a to track the download usage? cause I don't want to incur any additional fees because of its' use either.
Thanks.
PS. Did your package arrive yet?

not that much ,if a radio cost 4K/s ,then 12 hours a day ,around 200M ,I check a china radio costs 20k/s then 12 hours a day around 1G,it depends the quality of the radio (128k mp3 needs more) maybe the further the internet radio is the more cost(I'm not sure).

If you listened to the highest-quality radio channels for 4 hours per day it would be about 7 Gbytes/month. Your download limit is not in danger.

Shipping is fast, customer service / logistics is awful. I cancelled my order right after i placed it as I realized I shipped it to my billing address. Ends up shipping and now i prob have to go to purolator to pick it up.
Anybody want a cushtop? I have an extra one now. $19
