Upgrades are expensive.
I want a webcam and a good display thats already 590 and I get some nice clearance items at staples for about that price which would have similar if not better specs

The base price is sweet! Also, $50 more for ultrasharp WXGA+ LCD is fairly reasonable too. Or, at least don't forget the crucial 2G So-DIMM from memoryexpress.

this is pretty nice for a new dell laptop. but for the price, i think id prolly get a refurbrished hp from futureshop instead. a couple of the hp laptops were going at this price during boxing day and had some specs that were a lot nicer, mainly ati/geforce graphics cards, 6cell battery, and bigger hds

The direct link works for me, but could someone please tell me how to get to this particular laptop from the main Vostro page? Or main Dell page, if easier? I'd like to direct a friend to it over the phone, can't send an email.
Thanks

Here's the page for the Vostro 1310 (http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx?c=ca&cs=cabsdt1&id=vostronb_1310&l=en&s=bsd). Not the same price. $200 more for same processor.

I ordered this a while back. I ended up returning it for various reasons. I mainly didn't like the feel of the keyboard. It's really springy. There is major flex in the middle, much more than any other laptop keyboard I have used. The 1525, however, has a better keyboard.
I also had problems with the card reader not ejecting the card properly. I got stuck a couple of times and I had to work it out with a pen.
I also didn't like how for a pretty much full sized keyboard, it doesn't have dedicated home and end keys. Also it was missing a wsxga screen choice which, IMO, would've been perfect for it. I find wxga a bit too low of a res for a 15", and wuxga (which was what I ordered) to be a bit too high. Those were nitpicky things, but thought I'd share.

I bought a Vostro 1510 last spring and I love it, it is without doubt the best notebook I have ever had. I find it to be solid and well built, much better than the HP and IBM's I had been using. I got it with XP on it and it performs. I have recommended this model to 11 friends who all have bought it and they all love it as well. It performs very well, it's light, it has XP not bloated junkware dog Vista, I've dragged it all over the place, it spends weekends on our sailboat were we use it for nav software, playing DVDs and wireless web and it does it all. You can still get XP installed for $90 and get the Vista licence if you in future decide to beat yourself up some more. I only wish it had been this cheap when I got it.
You buy it through small business on Dell's website, just make up a name Dell doesn't really care. Everyone's a consultant now anyway, right?
BTW, I wouldn't worry about the battery life, playing a 2 hour DVD uses less than half the battery. We are seeing almost 4 hour battery life with reasonable use. The C2D is not power hungry.

So which of the two from Staples is the better system. The Inspiron 1525 (@597) or the Studio 1535 (@577)?
I ordered 1 of each and want to figure which one to return?
