Okay
I just called bell. They said they'd remove my internet by the 4th of febuary. I want to switch To Tekksavvy. should i switch to them after the 4th of febuary or before. Also my line with bell was 5mb but i was getting 2mb as i found that out today. say if i go with the 5mbs service with Teksavvy.. and i get 2mb speed , how do i get them to get my line to 5mb?
Thanks

call Teksavvy and order the service about a week before your Bell service ends

whatever speed you got with Bell is likely the speed you'll get with Teksavvy

you do not want to call them after your internet is gone

as mentioned before, call a week (or two) before that date. please keep in mind that the day you call to setup is when you start getting billed for the service (at least that's what happened when i signed up - not sure if that's changed now).

as for speed...check the availability of service on the teksavvy site (http://www.teksavvy.com/en/dslcheck.asp?ID=7&mID=1) and if it says something like

Yes!, up to 5 Meg Residential DSL is available for the phone number: [your number]

then you should be good to go....keep in mind the "up to" i think depends on the distance of your house from the CO

Ok. Is there anyway they can boost my speed though? Beacuse currently with bell I'm 5 mbps and I get 2 mbps.

I agree with above, make sure you have some overlapping between Bell and TekSavvy, otherwise be ready to live couple days without DSL and no RFD :P

Call TekSavvy, they can trace your line to see if you can upgrade to higher profile, sometimes due to your distance from the CO it's not possible

I just had a chat with bell. The ysaid it is not my location that is affecting my speed . It is my lines.. There sync rate is only3. Is there any solution to this?

when i asked teksavvy, you activate from them the day you cancel, never before, always after the cancellation date

Bell has a 30 day cancellation policy. Meaning if you call to cancel today, they will keep billing you till 30 days later. The only exception might be if you have your phone line disconnected beforehand, and you call and tell them your internet stopped working already (since DSL needs a phone line). In this case you may receive a credit for the remaining days, like I did.

If you were getting 2-3Mb service, you're probably on the older unlimited plan. When you call in, they can tell you whether you're on the old unlimited plan or the newer plans with the bandwidth cap.

Unfortunately no...short of a major replacement of wires.

If you were hoping for faster speeds with Teksavvy you're going to be very disappointed. You may need to look towards another medium for internet service...Cable or something......*sigh*

Old wiring or more likely, too far from the central office/hub.

DSL's limitation rearing its ugly head. Get Cable and be done with it. I was with cable then went with DSL for many years then Bell started dicking around and now I'm back to cable which is blazing fast.

if your only getting 2mb your better luck would be getting rogers and try to talk them in to giving you a promo

I'm on Sympatico and I'd switch to Teksavvy except it wouldn't be faster, or cable except for those months when one wants to download in excess of their download limitations.

It's a no-win situation.
