I recently got a 42" 1080p lcd tv and my dad got an HDMI cable for 720p/1080i.
Should I exchange it for a 1080p HDMI cable? will there be a big difference?

Thanks

I don't think there is. Try it.

I'm not sure but I don't think my Acoustic Research is 1080p 1.3a like my Belkin's and I don't see any difference/no issue.

I'm pretty sure there aren't cables that can do 720p and 1080i and not 1080p. It will either work for all the resolutions, or for none. And if it works, there's no difference between a $5 cable and a $100 cable, having a digital signal and all.

While it is true there is no difference between a $5 HDMI cable, and a $100 HDMI cable.

There is a difference between HDMI 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.3a cables.

In this case, you may want to return it and get this instead ... http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024008&p_id=3992&seq=1&format=2

It takes about 2 weeks to arrive. In the meantime, you can play around with the Monster a little before you return it :)

Oh ... Let's thank nden for the great tip ;)
