Hi!

As the title states my ethernet port stopped working on my mobo this morning, and last night it worked perfectly. I tested the cable on my laptop and its not the cable.

What should I do?

Thanks.

If your sure its the NIC, then you can just buy a new PCI NIC for $10-$20, and just install it in your PCI slot on your motherboard, and use that one.

Have you tried uninstalling the driver and reinstall again?

If the port is on the I/O plate, that means onboard your MB. If it's seperate from the plate you can buy a new PCI card and instal. If it's onboard you have to check to see if you have a free PCI slot available.

Yup, I would do this first ... Uninstall the driver, reboot the system and install the (updated, if any) driver.

Is this connected to a router by chance? Because if it is connected to the router, then it may not be a driver issue.

You mean there is no Internet or just "Cable Unplugged" message?

it says network cable is unplugged. The network itself functions properly and the cable itself works, so it MUST be the mobo or the software, but it was working the night before?? What could have caused this??

Just because it says network cable unplugged doesn't mean it is the MOBO/software. It could be the router itself. I had a similar issue and I had to call up my router company.

Are you connected to a router or a switch?
