I'm looking to get my wife a Pay as you Go phone, but I'm not sure what company to go with. I was speaking to a rep at Costco (Wireless, etc) and he said that Virgin is the best to go with. Do you agree? Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey,

I know that PC and 7-11 offer phones. If I'm correct 7-11 offers 20 cents a minute (5 cents a text) while Rogers offers it at 30. There's also Bell, Telus, Fido. You can check their individual websites for more info.

Here's the website for 7-11 wireless

my buddy picked up a rogers phone from Best Buy, it's a motorola w370 for 29.99 and when he activated it, got a $50 credit....so essentially you make $20.

I'd also suggest 7-11, but get it before the end of the year so that you can get in on the free phone promo (buy $100 of credit, get $74 off a phone, with the cheapest phone priced at $74)

PC Mobile also have a deal 'til years end, get $20 off the phone, a $10 giftcard, $20 of airtime and two months unlimited browser. The cheapest phone is $39, so you'd pay $19 out of pocket but the net cost for the phone & $20 credit is $9. Rates are the same as 7-11 but expiry dates are shorter.

I don't recommend Rogers, Bell or Telus prepaid as they're a lot more expensive (unless it's going to be used a lot). For example, Rogers charges $0.40/min vs $0.20/min for 7-11 and PC.

Rogers cheapest is $100 voucher valid for 365 days and you get to select different price plans. I've got 2 phones on All Day plan, 25c first 5 minutes that day and 15c afterward.

If don't talk a lot, then 7-11 is probably the best, $20 top up valid for 365 days.
