Hey,

I've been calling Rogers for the past 2 months or so, trying to see if I can get a new deal. The latest was for $60 (including tax).

It had the $25 student plan and $20 bundle Blackberry (I have a Blackberry Rogers unlocked).

I was wondering, would it be possible in any way to have the price reduced to say... $50? I know Retention is made for current clients, do you think customer service would be able to help?

I am saying - no. You may get $3-4 dollars off max. These lame screwballs dont give a hoot about you since they figure you are trying them since you either:

Don't like who you are with
Don't like your phone lineup
Don't like what you pay
Don't feel treated right

You really have to be a customer to get any pull and that being said..... the best I've got as a customer is 10% right now.. I was trying retentions but the lying rep wasted so much time retentions closed. I figure max I'd get 15% off the posted rate. In other words at best I'll be able to not pay a system fee.

I wish some USA companies come into canada and tear these guys to shreds.

I can't justify paying $50 or higher per month. That's 600 a year for a phone when I am mostly at work or at home. Thats like 2K in 3 years which can buy a top of the line PC or a very large plasma TV.

At the most, I am willing to pay $45-48 but thats even pushing it. Right now I pay 36 taxes in. No email, no data.

Even Koodoo or Fido isn't cheaper for what I have as options.

Old grandfathered plans cannot be beat. Problem is moving to a smartphone for under $40 is close to impossible. That is with email/data.

I totally agree to the last part. Going under 40 is impossible, I am not aiming for that.

I know a friend who has EXACTLY the same plan but pays 47!! (TAX INCLUDED!). I am not asking for that either, but at least something slightly lower than $60!

They will be forking money out of me for the coming 3 years, they can reduce the price a bit!

You and me.. I don't think they pity you paying 60 for 3yrs.. its like a luxury tax.

Today the Bell idiot told me, you've been with us over 3 yrs, don't leave I'll give you 200 free text messages.

Thank god I am not a student.... I'd just get a pay as you go if I was.

This is by far the funniest thing ever!

Unfortunately I cannot do pay as you go, I'm a heavy user.

Thanks for the input though.
