Anyone bought a Samsung Omnia (GSM) and uses GPS in North American or Canada? I'm currently using ASUS P535 with built-in GPS receiver, so I added TomTom program and it's been working great. Now I'm interested to change to Omnia but I want to make sure GPS is working on this phone.
Usually I won't even bother with question like whether phone with built-in GPS receiver can work in Canada or not, it should!!! But I heard from one phone store here in Toronto saying "oh the Omnia's GPS won't work in Canda at all", I was like WTH?
Then I've done some research, the spec on one of the samsung website listed the GPS feature as:
* GPS/AGPS connection is subject to local network and data services and network providers may charge additional service fees. Additionally, connection times can be affected by external factors, such as surrounding environment, weather, etc
and this site simplying saying it's not working in Canada:
Check here (http://www.expansys-usa.com/ft.aspx?k=112346)
Are they actually talking about AGPS only? Or is the Omnia built-in GPS rely on AGPS only (like it must require connect to data service from my phone company)?? I'm using Rogers by the way.
Thank you for your reply in advance
