I was just in the US and stopped off at bestbuy and saw some nice JVC and Panasonic flash based camcorders for around $250. They are VERY small and light weight. Anyone own one of these, and would like to share their experiences? I wanted to test it out, but the reps didn't have a SD card they could stick in there for me.

How is the still image quality, I know it won't be digicam quality but is it decent for printing 4x6's or a bit bigger? (I've heard bad things about still images on these things)

I'm going on a road trip so I thought this would be nice to take along, but I can't decide between one of these camcorders or a digicam (Sony DSC-T700, I like touch screens)

Any input would be great!

**sorry forgot we had a photography forum, mods please move**

I don't have either of these, but have the Canon HF-10. The quality of this camcorder is amazing - absolutely beautiful images on my 52" LCD. I think in general flash-based camcorders have 3 distinct advantages:

1) They're really light. Hand won't feel tired after holding it up for 30 minutes.
2) Very quick start up time.
3) No backjground noise conpared to mechanical (i.e. DV) formats
4) if you drop it, you have less chance of losing your data (vs. HDD), although you could break some other critical parts :P

Anyways, it wasn't even a consideration for non flash-based camcorders and I'm very happy with my decision!
