I see that FS has the Canon Rebel XS with 18-55mm lens (bundle, includes spare battery, grip, and bag) for $499 in their flyer, $400 off. I'm wondering if there are any better deals I should consider.
At first I was aiming towards a Nikon D40 but nowhere really has them on sale, other than the FS online flyer for $399 (you only save $70).

Yeah every XS deal looks cold compared to Dell's deal.. too bad I missed it. How likely will Dell repeat the sale?
Otherwise, the FS deal is probably the best option now.

Yeah i missed "that" deal too which was for 399, its on sale for 499, legit this time. so its still worth it i think to buy from dell

Dell has these deals on all the time. Seriously, you just have to check here and also check Dell.ca yourself and it's only a matter of time before you see what you want on sale.

but the dell lenses aren't IS, does it really make that much of a difference? (this will be my first DSLR) Plus, don't you have to pay for shipping?

I'm not sure what deal you are looking at but I just thought I'd let you know that the E-S 18-55mm kit lens that comes with the new XS and XSi are IS lenses, they just don't use the USM motors for focusing. As for S/H, you just have to keep an eye out on the sales as Dell has free S/H deals all the time.

I can't find the Rebel XS with two lenses on the Dell site anymore, did they get rid of it already?
