**Edit: No need for a coupon, $9.99 is now regular price.
According to some readers, they have seen some with opened (possibly used) products in the box, be sure to open the box yourself to ensure all products are new.

Checked out my factorydirect flyer today and saw they had a pc starter set (includes: surge protector, gel mouse pad, gel wrist rest, 6 pack cable ties, 3.5 oz compressed air can, USB (type A to type B--i think that's what it's called), and 5 cds)

I was looking for a new gel mousepad and a surge protector and the mousepads i saw usually ran at least $15.

and no, it's not a refurb.

There's a coupon in the flyer, but at the till the girl had a stack of them already cut out in the drawer...

Glad that particular location was being nice with the coupons, but NEVER count on Factory Direct to have coupons in-store. They've made me drive home to print my own coupons off many times (chalking it up to "policy")

They use to have that option which shows the inventory at different stores; I don't see that anymore on their web site. Anyone else notice it.

They actually still have the "CHECK STOCK" button there, it is just hidden.

If you click on the area next to the "ADD To CART" button (see picture attached), you will be able to check for stock.

P.s. I picked one up at the Nepean store this AM and they had at least a couple more in the front. Using the mousepad w/ Gel wrist support as we speak and I think it has paid for itself already in relief.

$17.50 shipping in Ontario. Yikes, that's $31 total.

Still a good deal?

It depends on what you need. I was looking for a mouse pad with a gel rest and a surge protector. When I went into staples, cheapest mouse pad like that was $15...and a decent surge protector is probably similarly priced. If you were wanting to get those, you get a bit extra as well--still pretty decent, I'd say.

Word of warning: some of the boxes look pretty battered - majority look faded for some reason, so open them up to inspect the insides.

They had a ton of them in the Markham store. Make sure you open up the box (none of them are sealed) and make sure that all the parts are sealed. For example, in my box the surge protector, cdrs, keyboard gel wrist pad were all sealed - mousepad was by itself. My brother picked up a set as well, his surge protector was white (supposed to be gray) and wrapped inside bubble wrap. But his mousepad was sealed in a blister pack. Air canister and cable organizers were also factory sealed for both boxes.

Anyone order from them online? I did last night. Well I think I did. I was taken back to the homepage when I clicked confirm. Not a confirmation page of my order. Also, I have still yet to receive anything from them in the way of an e-mail or phone call.

Should I call them soon?

Just FYI, it's better to open the box to check it before you buy. Because I found someones in the box have already been used but not all of them.

My 2 are new. Awesome quality including TV in/out and tel in/out!

Great price, i picked up one, and as the other user said you should check the contents of the box, i checked some boxes, some contained used/opened items, while others contained new ones.

About 30-40 sets on a shelf at the North York (Dufferin) location. Was there this morning to buy a bluetooth headset for my dad before I head off to school. Tempted to grab one of these Starter Sets but it's pretty big and I didn't want to lug it around on campus.

I picked up 2 from the markham location, what got me worried was the label on the back. It says "this product may contain some chemicals including lead, please wash your hand after handling" (something like this) Nonetheless this is a crazy deal, the keyboard and mouse pad is very comfortable.

I picked up 2 of these from the Dufferin location as well. What is up that warning? "This product contains chemicals including lead, know o the state of California to cause birth defects, or other reproductive harm. Wash hands before handling" Maybe that's why it's $10.

Yea, I was scared too. Maybe this is from china. But seriously can they be selling stuff like this?

EDIT: I found a link regarding belkin products in the state of CALIFORNIA. Check out the discussion.

"This product contains chemicals including lead, know to the state of California to cause birth defects, or other reproductive harm."
This only applies in California. As long as you use the items in the kit outside of California you should be OK.

P.S. Your keyboard and mouse probably have more dangerous bacteria on them than anything, including lead, in the kit. Do you wash your hands after handling them?

For anyone curious about the size of the compressed air, it's only 3.5 oz. Still enough to do the innards of your compy a few times...depending on how dusty it is.

Kitchener still has 5 or 6 left (at least on the shelf...priced at $9.99). I picked one up when I went in for a LG Bluetooth headset HBM-730 last night. I have been using that Belkin mousepad for years...in fact our whole family does. The mousepad alone costs much more anywhere else. Super value for all the goodies in the box. A bit ... no a lot ... dusty though......:cheesygri
