Ok guys, this is my first post about a hot deal so don't hate too much if i get something wrong. I bought polk speakers at FS about a week ago for around 499. Well I was browsing Polks website and came across this offer good until the new year: http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/promo.php?id=53
If you spend 499 on polk speakers or more at an authorized dealer you get a free subwoofer, the PSW10 which retails for 199 i believe. Well I printed off that polk deal walked into FS with my receipt and left with a free subwoofer. If you have bought or will buy a polk package with the sub already included then you qualify for a free $200 refund off the purchase price!
To me this is extremely hot, especially if you can negotiate the price of the speakers down in the first place. I got RTI A3's for 299 and a CSI A4 for 199 with a free sub, even if the sub is polk, that's hot.
What do you guys think? Also managed to snag a Harman Kardon 254 for $475, I fear these retailers are going to be hurting quite badly in the new year if deals like this are to be had. Good luck and if you have bought polk speakers in the last little bit go get your free sub or $200 refund.

I just bought a Polk Bundle with a Denon Receiver. Package was for Polk RM85FS and Denon AVR-789. Came with a PSW125 Polk 12 inch sub(not the sandwich). Bundle was already on sale and I saved $400, but I wonder if this $200 off would apply still. I will have to try it out at the store.
Thanks OP

josec74, just print off the offer from polks website and bring it in along with your receipt. because your pkg came with a subwoofer you will get $200 refunded (as long as the speaker component of the pkg was 499 or more). i see you are in london, i did this at the south london store last night. good luck and you owe me a subway sandwich if you get $200 back

Sweet Deal Man!! Have not had too much luck in the past in the South London FS for pricematching and such, usually North end is a little easier, but since you got it there I will give it a shot. I just want to use the $200 to buy a pair of stands for my front speakers. If I get this, I do owe you big man! Thanks again.
I will try tomorrow, because I work until 4:30 today.

My speaker system came with Wall mounts that I won't be using. It came with the speakers. My front are RM8 and rears are RM7. If they will work with your setup I'll gladly give them to you if you would like. It would save you a few bucks, plus I owe you huge if I get this offer to work for me. I have to wait till after the boxing day flyers come out though, if for any reason they don't give me the $200 off and a comparable system is cheaper on boxing day I may need to return it.
Does anyone know if Future shop has holiday hours today, and if so what time they close today? Maybe I will go over there today and try this.

Dec 21st, 2008, 03:34 PM
i tried to take the money over the equipment but the deal is, buy a speaker group with a sub and get 200 bucks back, buy a set of speakers without a sub and get a sub. i do realize the 200 is worth much more than the sub even if fs claims it retails for $330 reg.

I hope when I go try to get this deal later today that they don't say something like that it doesn't apply because what I purchased was bundeled with a Denon Receiver. It should apply still though, because they sell the polk audio speaker package alone that came with my bundle for $999, and it was still $1199 a few days ago when I bought the bundle. Have to wait and see, not too much time left before I'm done work!

- Sony Blu-ray Disc Player I think prob BDPS350 + 3 Blu-ray movies (Irobot, Devil wears Prada, kingdom of heaven) $350 value FS

Yeah it's very unspecific. It says select bundles... I didn't buy a bundle, I ordered 3 sets of RTi4 and then purchased a PSW505 a week later. Nothing on the FS site even mentions this on even the polk bundles so how are you supposed to go about this?
Trying my luck with FS.ca, got escalated to the supervisor, who says he has to escalate it to HIS supervisor... so this is not looking good, it's already mired in bureaucracy and I suspect I will not be hearing from them again. Oh well, waste of time but it's RFD. ;)
Edit: After being on hold a long time, they just dropped the line on me... after spending an hour on the phone, great!

The RM85 are around 499 everywhere that I have looked. The RM85FS comes with the PSW125 sub from polk that is usually 399 in most places. Also included in the RM85FS is a set of stands that retails for 149 in most places. So it is worth 999.

Hey, I just checked amazon, and the have it on there for $174.99, even without the rebate. This is on amazon.com however. The internet is messed up here at work and its not letting me check amazon.ca. Check there though, maybe it is cheaper than $399.

Okay, I had an epic RFD battle with the future shop manager in store about this... he pulled out the full gamut of reasons why they shouldn't adjust the price including the time honored classics of "we don't price match online" and "limited time offers" etc.
Anyway, it was busy in the store and I was persistent and I eventually wore him down and he offered to price adjust the PSW505 sub I purchased for $100 less plus the taxes saved. It's not $200, but I decided to take the compromise.
$139.99 for the PSW505 that's a pretty hot deal. Thanks OP.
Total polk deal:
3 pairs of RTi4s, and a PSW505 sub, total $440. Much better than any of the bundle sets anywhere near that cost. The CSi3 I use as a center was a separate used purchase at $80.

He did, and he didn't. The wording on the promotion is very vague, and I could NOT get any example retailers like Crutchfield to actually apply the discount/free sub when I bundled a bunch of polk products together that only equalled the minimum amount when a subwoofer other than the PSW10 was added. On top of that, I had purchased everything on separate orders from FS all of which was over 30 days in the past except for my sub. The other problem was that there was really no telling whether or not the promotion was actually on when I placed my orders or not.
He WAS willing to let me walk with a PSW10 (which I have no use for, and read that they are pretty crap) but they didn't have any in the store and I'd rather take $113 in my pocket over one of those anyway.
At the end of the day, I didn't come away from it thinking he was a douche, maybe a bit pedantic about the whole thing but at the end of the day he compromised and given the fuzzy particulars I felt that was fair.

Just checked amazon.com. Seller does not ship to Canada and the shipping is 37 dollar USD... 175 + 37 shipping is 212 and 258 after exchange rate... so it's a hot deal if you can pick it up at the border (also need to factor in customs/tax).

Would this $200 refund apply if I was purchasing the $799 Sony/Polk Audio with blu ray player as listed on the FS flyer. Would I end up getting the deal for $599 or would this be something I'd have to ask the store. It seems that if I want to buy this, I'd have to stand in line for a few hrs since there are only 3 units available and then ask the sales associate if the 200 discount applies.
Also, I would welcome any comments, recommendations on this home theater system. I know these speakers aren't the best but they have gotten great reviews online, same with the receiver and blu ray player.

That would be amazing - I'm not sure if that's how it works - the promo states a free sub or $200 with bundled system. Does that mean it has to be bundled with an amp? Usually I don't like the fine print, but this promo is very vague, not sure at all what would qualify. Does everything have to be purchase at once, or could you combine recent purchases of Polk products?

The RTi10 is a tower speaker. You would get the free sub, not $200 off. This is what I wanted to do, but they have been sold out online. I went to a store around here at lunch yesterday and wandered around waiting for someone in home audio. I felt like i had to wave 5 $100 bills around saying "I want to spend this!"

I went into store to see if they had stock. They did not and had none in the warehouse or on order so she said if they were available online I better snatch them up because they weren't expecting to get anymore, nor any in the city. I showed her the coupon and she said that I could bring in my receipt and they would get the sub in store. It was a dept manager and she wrote exactly that on the coupon sheet with her name. I recommend anyone looking for these snag them online and go in-store with your receipt, unless you want to try in store first. It was about $60 shipping for the pair, but for $630 after tax two-3 way towers and a 10" sub is a pretty fantastic deal.

I tried to take advantage of this deal today and had no success at two Futureshops in Ottawa (Merivale and Kanata). The manager at Mervale said he would give me the rebate but would only sell the speakers at the Polk.com website prices. His argument was that I was already getting a good deal so tough luck. A manager in Kanata (Will) told me he couldn't give me the rebate since Futureshop isn't an official Polk retailer and he didn't recieve a "memo" about the deal.
Anyone have any luck getting in on this deal in Ottawa?

Thats bs! While he is checking the polk.com website he can check the authorized retailers, every future shop in my city shows up as one along with visions. I would even talk to polk and tell them their authorized retailers are ripping people off. You might not get anywhere but that is total bs. Considering you can't get most of their speakers online through polk, mostly only select models. Plus most of the time when retailers accept coupons they get the money back from the company, that is why they take the coupon so they can send it back for reimbursement. I wouldn't be surprised if polk is reimbursing them cost for the subs.

I am from Ottawa and was thinking of taking advantage of this offer. Since this is a rebate from the manufacturer, I don't understand how he can say he won't give it to you. Usually the manufacturer would cover the cost of the deal. So if I were you I would call the polk customer service line and ask them if FS should be honouring the deal. If they say yes, go back to FS with the printout, tell them you called polk and they said you should be honouring it. Him not honouring it sounds like BS to me as they are clearly listed as polk dealers.
Your other option would be to try going to The Brick.

Has anyone gone into and Future Shop anywhere in Canada and got them to honour this deal (free sub or 200 off if bundled with a sub)? If so, can you post your receipt?

Futureshop IS an authorized dealer. Go to polks website and look for authorized dealers near you and guess what, Futureshop will show up as one on polk's website. Print that off along with the promotion. Those managers in Ottawa are *******s. If I knew where my receipt was I would post it for you, sorry you live in ottawa. The nasty attitude of the francophones must rub off on the ppl that inhabit that area of the country :D

When I redeemed my deal the guy specifically told me they received a bunch of those subs as promotional pieces from polk that they removed from bundled systems and put off to the side, ie. they more than likely received those subs for FREE! in addition, the rep told me they get the money back from polk or the value of the sub if they had to pay for it. You should call futureshop HQ complain and get something for your trouble in addition to this deal.

I ordered the 5 piece RM10 5-pack from FS the other night at $199 (it's the RM10FS without the sub (I've already got 2 subs))... If I go on and spend another $300, will I be able to get $200 back? I could justify buying the RM6880 and use the RM10's in another room if I'm going to get $200 back. The polk site looks pretty vague... anyone have details?
Thanks!

I got a PSW505 sub last week, went in to Future Shop today to try and pick up two RTi10 speakers and get $200 off, but they wouldn't do it. They said I could return the PSW505, get the two RTi10 speakers and receive a free PSW10 sub, even though the PSW10 retails for more than what I paid for the PSW505.
I'll keep my 12" and wait until there are other Polk deals ...

Hey all
I see the promo from Polk on the Free subwoofer or 200 is still on.
I am looking to purchase the following:
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10077799&catid=14700&logon=&langid=EN
Because it is greater than 499 - does this mean I can go back to FS to get a 200 discount on the spot?

I picked up a few nice deals at Visions recently.I deal with the same guy there every time, and I brought him a printout of the Polk deal (he says he never heard of it and yes, I believe him).
He ended up giving me a better deal than the coupon (I think), a set of Tsi 400's for $419 (cost + %15 he says) and the sub at $98 (supposedly cost). $568.60 tax inc.
Their website lists the Tsi at $699.00 (in store it was over $800.00 lol!).
I originally took home a set of monitor 70's , which are the older model the Tsi line replaces, but the 70 is the top of the monitor series, however they were too big and wouldn't fit with our gear (shame, 4x 6.5's vs. 3 5.25's). $406.00 is apparently cost + %15, and imo an awesome set of towers for the money.
Paid < $250.00 for the Tsi 100's for surrounds, and the cs10 centre :D
So far <$2k for a full Polk surround setup and a Panny px80 50". sounds and looks good so far.

I frankly don't like it when you insult all francophones like that !!! You are a moron if you think that. You should know that most of them are very very welcoming and nice people. There is f.....ers everywhere... (GTA GVA everywhere in Ontario, Canada, States, Quebec, Europa... evrywhere...)
Don't bitchstupidly like that !!!!!

This deal was dead long ago.
It was very YMMV to begin with, even while it still included Canada as Future Shop was NOT participating. Those of us that got some cash back were just master negotiators/pesterers.
