Folks,
i found the ASUS EeePc 1000 pearl white for $ 479.99 but have to pay GST and than $ 40 rebate.

http://www.compu2000.com/product/6043/EPC1000HA_WHI001X/ASUS/

(Mods feel free to edit link)

$ 479.99 + $ 24 GST(ontario) + Free shipping = $ 503.99

$ 503.99 - $ 40 MIR = $ 463 in Ontario

so far this is cheapest price i found for Ontario People. its a decent deal with 6 cell battery and in white.

Let our community decide if its hot or not. dont waste your time for stooples to get them in stock for $ 459 it will still cost more than $ 500 in ontario.

They still have 21 in stock. Make a quick decision not many left.

I'm not clear if this product is the 1000H or 1000HA.

The 1000HA shouldn't have 802.1n and bluetooth. The link shows specs for the 1000H but the vpn is EPC1000HA-WHI001X.

decent deal on an amazing netbook.

judging by the model# EPC1000HA-WHI001X, it is the one without wifi-n and I think bluetooth.

It is around +/-$10 compared to the last staples deal w/coupons...

Hopefully unlike the last deal, u guys get the normal US keyboard layout.

It would be a pain in the A$$ having to deal with return/exchange over provinces & shipping.

only downer is the mail-in-rebate, that is so 2005.
Might be wiser to wait till next week, for a better boxing week deal.
or
better yet, maybe even pick up the 1002ha or nc10 for the same price.

Problem retailers are facing is drop in Canadian Dollar. I have one executive from large computer maker in one of my party at home told me dont think of getting same pricing again as when dollar was at par. thier new stock is reflecting about 17% rise in price. so to me its a very decent deal.

also staples pulled all of this model because retailer did RTV i dont read anywere that this model has keyboard problem. I know at 459 there is no margin unless unit was imported during the dollar par days. I can bet staples will never bring this model again. staples is selling HP like crazy and launching more and more new models. so staples dead is dead now.

Weird that it still shows 21 in stock if at least one person here has bought one since the OP posted it. I'm thinking about it but I want the black one. I'm not sure I want it for $50 more so I might just jump on this deal. The N10J for $659 looks nice too but I don't think it's worth $200 more for me. I'm not sure there will be a better deal boxing week.....especially since a lot of the big stores don't seem to carry these.

Isn't it worth the $7 for insurance? I'm wondering why the two people here who bought it passed on that option. Am I missing something?

how is the eee compare to the Hewlett Packard Mini 1035NR Notebook PC? since if you stack 3 20$ coupon at staples the Hewlett Packard Mini 1035NR Notebook would be around the same price at 440$+tax. not sure if u can price match that +10% at futureshop that sells it at 550$.

but which one would you guys get?

I have this netbook, but the 1000H version bought also from Comp2000 months ago for about $550 taxes in (no pst to Ontario). I'm very pleased with it, my brother has the Dell mini-9 and this thing blows it away, larger screen, keyboard, HD, better viewing angle etc. As far as I know the HA version is lacking only the bluetooth and wireless N support, I figured that I wanted both of those in case I picked up a BT mouse.

According to an email I received a few minutes ago this does have the bilingual keyboard. I'm not sure if I'm going to cancel, I'll have to find a place to take a closer look at one.

Does anybody know where to get a good price on one of these (pref black) with the English keyboard? The best price I could find was about $50 more shipped but I didn't confirm the keyboard configuration.

"The Eee PC is actually come with bilingual keyboard, please let me know if you want to continued the order. Should you have any question please feel free to E-Mail us to customer.care@compu2000.com, or call us at 604-288-4999."

i am gonna wait a month or two when new netbooks come out
with lower power Atom CPUs (Dell Mini is already using them)
But on top of that new netbooks also should be using a new chipset
which is even better on power efficiency.
Hope battery life will be minimum of 6hours.

This means BOTH shift keys r gonna be out of easy reach while touch typing, gonna suck for a many people.

If u really want it or have already got it and don't want to return it, u can use "KeyTweak" to re-map the keys, it works fine on mines since I don't play games, otherwise it would be annoying having the up arrow key above the right arrow key.

There should be an app out there that can switch back on the fly for gaming.

Make sure it is US keyboard, English could just mean its not in french, but still canadian layout.

Shouldn't worry as they have US keyboards, not bilingual. I have 2 from PC village and both US keyboard.

I don't know why you guys are calling it 1000HA. It's not. Unless Compu2000 screwed up something on their website, the deal is actually for 1000. Compare with Ncix.

but mir is for 1000HA

The name of the rebate form really is confusing, with "1000ha" included there. However, the form mentions that it's good for the model "EPC1000HA-WHI001X", suggesting that both 1000 and 1000ha qualify, since they share the same model number.

...Actually, now that I've looked through the MIR form a bit more carefully, it specifies
"PROMOTION #21465
DECEMBER EEE PC 1000HA $40 MIR"

What's surprising is that both Ncix and Compu2000 point to the same MIR on their websites.
I wonder whether this MIR will go through. I bought this netbook and it's going to be a bad surprise if MIR won't be accepted. Unless it's a honest screw up that those guys would be willing to fix, it kind of smells like a false advertising.

So is there a difference in the specs between the 1000 and 1000HA?

Yes. Wikipedia might not be the best resource for information but for this topic it'll do.

I don't know why you guys are calling it 1000HA. It's not. Unless Compu2000 screwed up something on their website, the deal is actually for 1000.But if what you're saying is true and the model is 1000 and not 1000HA, then it doesn't make sense that the description of this model includes a 160GB hard drive and WinXP as the OS. The 1000 should only have 8GB/32GB SSD and running Linux, according to the Wikipedia page.

If Ncix and Compu2000 is false advertising, then PCVillage and Canada Computers are also doing the same thing as they are also advertising the same MIR for their 1000HA models.

I suspect NCIX and Compu2000 are really advertising the 1000HA models and in their description they simply left out the "HA" which is causing all this confusion.

1000 is a totally different netbook then the 1000ha, they just screwed up the specs

eg. the 1000 weight 1.33kg, 1000ha is 1.45kg. The extra weight is for the hdd and its surrounding cage.

this is the REAL 1000

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=31318&vpn=EEEPC1000-BK003&manufacture=ASUS

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=31317&vpn=EEEPC1000-W004&manufacture=ASUS

Compu2000 does not seem to carry the REAL 1000

I dunno... I actually emailed CS department and asked them regarding this thing. Here's the reply I got from them:

Hi, Sir, you have order SKU: 35610, the 1000 model instead of 1000HA, and the VPN for 1000 model (35610) is that : EPC1000HA-WHI001X ,which means that you are qualified for the $40 MIR. For more info, you can check out here:

http://www.mirhelp.com/index.php?s=35610

and you can download the MIR form, fill it out and send it to the manufacture.

Cheers,

Sales Rep

If it turns out to be 1000ha after all, I'll be REALLY disappointed.
The only explanation I can think of is that there are several 1000 models rather than a single one.
