iPhone Messenger Thoughts

I started up this thread on another forum, and well... it's full of Apple fanboys so they're really ignorant when it comes to technology.. :lol: I can't say I'm ignorant because I used to own PC's and now I own a Mac, it's not like I fully hate anything other than Apple like these losers.

Anyways...

So I brought up the idea of Apple introducing something like BBM. (I'm sure I don't have to explain myself because everyone here in the cell phone forum should know) What are your thoughts? I think it would be great.

P.S., as soon as I started the threat, I got negative feedback from people saying to stick with MSN, ICQ, Yahoo or AIM. Obviously these people have no idea what BBM is so I tried to explain to them how it worked, but they still thought that signing into MSN etc. to send or receive messages would be more ideal than signing in once EVER and whenever your phone is powered on, BBM is on so when your in power save mode, you can still receive messages. iPhone you can't because it doesn't support push, yet... however, to the people that don't have MSN, ICQ Yahoo etc (i know some..), why force them to signup to use a cool feature like this.

If it was intergrated into, say, Mac computers as well, I'd totally see it blooming. It's be like a Mac community, kinda like how BBM is like.

well i have an iphone but i'm generally not a mac fan.

and i think this idea would just be silly. why would i want another platform-dependent messaging protocol to worry about? i'd much rather use aim/msn so i can actually talk to anyone i want regardless of whether they have an iphone or not; be it on their desktop client, their blackberry with msn etc etc.

and i think YOU'RE the one confusing MSN/AIM services. on my iphone i only have to sign in ONCE. i don't know where you get this ludicrous idea that i have to sign in repeatedly to do anything. plus i get near-push notifications through email alert by having the app send it to my phonenumber@pcs.rogers.com so in essence i basically get an instant sms whenever i receive a new message.

basically i see no benefit to an iphone messaging service at all compared to the already way better solutions available. also everyone i know with an iphone already has a text messaging plan anyway(and with the newer plans, you get 10,000 sms), so why would yet another messaging client make any sense at all? it doesnt.

What your saying you do with your iPhone is impossible... wanna know why? Because the iPhone closes the app as soon as you leave it, also it doesn't have push yet.
