My HTC Touch (enhanced?) won't stay on and freezes up all the time. The only thing I can do then is to soft reset or remove the battery.
I have deleted pretty much everything but the OEM add ons.
I've changed SD cards
At first I thought b/c it was so cold, but I had it inside the house in my pant pocket just now and it froze again.
Any ideas...the info at HoFo is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy over my head.
TIA

I bought it here...so I doubt there is warranty >:(
How is a hard reset done? Should I backup before because it will wipe out everything?
Thanks

Done...pretty easy!
BUT now my phone won't charge at all. I tried connecting it to my PC and it's not recognized at all in any of my USB ports.
I've tried the wall charger too :(
I'm toast right? :(

My phone is an unlocked one on Rogers.
If I can't connect it to my PC, how can I update the rom, please?

I think there is something wrong with the phone itself, not the software. If you can, try contacting HTC to see if the phone is still in warranty and if you can get it fixed.
But, if your out of warranty, it might be cheaper and better to get another phone.

I think you're right felix, it won't charge period. I was on the phone with HTC Support just now, and without being able to diagnose it while on, there isn't much I can do :(
I will have to wait until Monday to see if they can fix it. Unfortunately google has told me that this has happened to others, and a new phone is in my future. I only bought this baby in the spring, and absolutely LOVE it, so it's a little heartwrenching to see it end up in the toy bin for the kiddies.
Cross your fingers that HTC can help me Monday.
Now I am off to see if anyone can lend me their battery ;)....although I do think it's hardware.
Thanks !

First - is this a Touch, or a Touch Diamind? Rogers sells both. Look at this pics here:
http://www.htc.com/us/support_select_product.aspx
Try booting into the diagnostic screen.... you do this by holding down the camera button and the power button at the same time, and press the hard reset button in the bottom in. Release it, but keep the two buttons pressed for 3 seconds.
You should have the phone reboot to a screen that looks kind of like a rainbow - this is a special diagnostic screen, at which your phone SHOULD charge.
If the phone chargers here, then you probably just have a software problem, a corrupted widows mobile. You just need to re-flash your phone with the stock (or latest) Rogers ROM.
Post an update here if you need the ROM, I am sure I can locate it for you.

Ok...I have the rainbow! But the status light at the top is not flashing at all. I guess I will wait to see if it actually does charge overnight?
Will update tomorrow. I know there is no rom update online at HTC.com
This is an unlocked phone bought here. I am using it with Rogers, if that makes any difference.
Thanks!!!!!
*Update* it's dead now....I will have to find me a battery and charger, right?
I am hoping I can send it in to HTC and have them peek at it (sigh, regretting selling those iphones earlier now..lol)

Might not be the same thing, BUT:
I bricked my Rogers touch last night (i unlocked it 2 days ago) trying to flash the rom.
It wont turn on so i wasn't sure if it was charging, but i could get into the tri-color bootscreen. Used mtty to reset and then load a factory rom onto there. (windows mobile device centre couldn't detect it but i could still use mtty)
Let me know if you are still having this problem via pm or reply... if so, i'll see if i can dig up my history and send you the instructions.
Now i'm using the onyx rom and everything is fine except for the the startup... it says 'Test, not for resale' but I'll flash the rom to get it fixed
