I want to buy my father a digital photo frame for Christmas and preload it with some photos of our family. My dad is a nursing home, he is not overly technically competent althought he has a computer so he's not totally blind to technology, and he likes things that are easy to use. I want a name brand (ie Kodak etc) frame because I feel, right or wrong, that brand I've never heard of and priced really cheaply are simply cheap quality.

Given my dad's situation, what things should I consider when buying a digital frame? Is it best to get one that has some internal memory and I can also stick a USB drive or card into or ?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can help me with.

funny i just came back from futureshop and bestbuy to look at them. I found out all 7" on display were crap. Like I could clearly see the pixels in the screen. They range from 49 to 89 dollars. The 8" ones are a lot better, with really good resolution, and the pixels can only be visible if you really look close. They are like, $100+.

for operation, i find the kodak ones easier to use, because they have a menu that pops up when you touch the border, and its pretty easy to choose settings and options. The Samsung ones are good too, with a cool touch sensitive menu on the right border.

just be sure it looks good in person, dont just buy it based on the price.

Photo frames use very low quality lcd's and sell them at very high prices.

I think you are better off getting a set of pictures printed, and then do a collage for him.

Don't buy an Aluratek. Great resolution (1024x768), mediocre contrast (~300:1) but horrid firmware and NO support.
