Hey All,
Just wondering if anyone gets requests from companies/newspapers etc to use your image in their publication or web blog etc..
I've been asked by a few places, and am not sure if I should charge, or let them have the photo. They say that I will be fully credited, but thats about it. No payment was ever mentioned.
Any ideas or advice?

I had a similar problem recently. This thread (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=660852) may answer your question :)

Thanks for the reply,
However, in my case, both individuals are people I do not know (found my photo through flickr) and both want to use for different reasons. One is a newspaper from greece and another is a medical website.
Does anyone do stock photo? Woudl this be a viable option?

What you do is up to you of course. If you are a hobbyist getting a credit is something to 'brag' about and would be great.
If photography is your profession that is a different story...

If you'll be getting any money you'll need permission to use peoples likenesses, that's for sure

I would say let them have it for free, but add stipulations such as they must not allow anyone else the use of your image without your consent. Or charge the newspaper, 50-100 Euros to use it. Anyways, it's your image, do with it what you will.

depends on the photo.
If its unique, and cannot be substituted by other stock photos, then you can charge quite a bit.
If its something generic and there are many variations of it elsewhere, then don't expect money (unless its for an advertisement and they expect to make money from it)

I'll give usage-rights, for a fee, depending on the situation.
