I had received first bill from Bell with the long distant was $188 for 61min. call from Canada to VN. Used to have long distant plan with Call Select but some how bill was charge to Bell with the rate was $3 per min. but with Call Select was only $.06 per min.
My question is what should I do with the problem?. Will Bell agree for me to pay the same rate as Call Select company as $.06 cent per min.?. Any advice please

Ahaha ... good luck getting it fixed in the endless maze of incompetence and indifference that is the Bell Canada billing dept.
I and my family have been there many times. You are doomed!
Actually, I hope the same thing does not happen to me since I have Bell too! :-0

Have you called Bell?
Yes I had called customer service & want to cancel my service since they did not mention any long distant plan when I have service with Bell.
Bell says they will investigate that matter and get back to me. Should I pay the bill and get out of Bell service for good?. Any advice?. Have any body has the problem as same as my?

I'm confused, were you with bell or call select when the call was made?

From what I read, you used to have Call Select, but do not anymore. Since you do not have it anymore, it would mean you have to pay Bell for your long distance (assuming you didn't use 1010920 or whatever service). Which means you pay Bell's LD rates. If you still have Call Select, then you probably need to contact them and find out what happened. Otherwise, I don't see an issue and you didn't do your due diligence in finding out per minute costs to call VN (I'm assuming Vietnam). Which is $3.09/minute during high volume times and $2.29 during low volume times. I think you are out of luck in this if you don't have Call Select.

My advice is to not let them appease you with the word 'investigation'.
I have had an 'investigation' going on since I activated my home phone and Internet, oh say, 10-12 months ago - despite promising that it would be rectified within 5-7 business days. Every month I have to keep calling in to get a credit manually applied....
I also pray that you reach a CSR named Karen. She has been fantastic on the occasions i've managed to reach her. Fully competent and very efficient.
Anyways yeah - you have to keep hassling Bell until you get your issue resolved. They like to try and sweep things under the carpet.

Just like you said I signed up their long distance plan & I got credit as $178. The good thing is I will call to cancel the plan cuz it is too expensive compare with other long distance plan, pay only when you used. Thanks

Tell them to get stuffed. You did not authorize to change you plan so you will not pay a cent of it. Write letters, make complaints to government ombudsmen do whatever it takes and make sure that you bury them in paperwork while you are at it. Hell, threaten to cancel your landline with them if need be.

We dispize bell, Astronomical fees for LD or they want to charge you per month to be on a lower fee rate.. So we told them to stick it and are with Vonage atm, and so far are completely happy with it and we get all those extras bell wants to charge $3 each a month for.

10 10 229 calls to Viet Nam (http://www.1010229.ca/index2.php). Check the link, no membership just dial the numbers for 9 cents to landlines and 10 cents to cell phones.
There is a whole list of countries there. One cent to anywhere in Canada 2 cents to the UK ( that has just increased from one cent sadly but we'll live with it :)

You should probably just ignore it and not pay. Nothing bad ever happens when you sleep it off, right?

Three years ago, my father received a spoofed LD bill directly on his Bell bill.
He called in and told them it was never made on his number, they don't KNOW anybody at that number and they can call and verify. After an 'investigation', they apologized and waived the bill. It was ~$30CAD.
FF THREE YEARS LATER., This last month, a COLLECTION AGENCY calls my father hunting down said $30. Seems Bell waived it INTERNALLY, but NOT settled the bill externally to the billing company in the US that handled the US LD Call. UNBELIEVEABLE.
Having it reached the collection agency and whatever further ramifications to prolonging this, he opted to pay the $30 and take this up with Bell. Can you imagine the incompetence of Bell???
Good thing he had the bill on file. Called Bell., and they credited his account for the amount paid. What a fiasco.

And I pray that you have emailed Bell and given Karen credit for her good customer service. Customer service is so important these days, in fact to me it's more important than the product, yet so many CSRs absolutely suck at their job. Whenever I get especially good service I email the company and let them know that, but for the service I received, I would have bought elsewhere. I just did that the other day after ordering a new refrigerator from my mom over the phone from Sears. The salesperson was so helpful and friendly, answered all my questions, and even waived the $60 delivery charge. I got her name and emailed the company right away and gave her lots of kudos and made it known that I was still just checking out products and wasn't planning on buying at that moment, but did because of how helpful she was.
I had to call her back after the delivery (cuz dammit I measured wrong and now it has to be exchanged!) and she thanked me profusely (I had put in my letter that I would appreciate her being given a copy of the letter) for being so kind, her boss brought her the letter as soon as he got it and she was so surprised cuz as she said, nobody ever does that, they only write when they have something to complain about. But hell, in these days of seriously bad customer service, I feel compelled to let companies know when I get especially good service....I also do the converse and blast off nasty letters when I get crappy service.
Anyway...sorry to go off on a tangent in your thread OP. Good luck to you, I agree with most users here....Bell sucks for service. I hope you get the same person Crispy got...and if you do, I hope you take a moment to email a letter giving credit where credit is due. We all hate having to call tech support, customer service etc, when someone takes care of your problem in short order and is very friendly, IMO, they deserve some recognition.

WTH? Toronto only??
This service is available for Toronto residents with a Bell Canada subscription only. No need to register or pre-pay, you can start calling immediately. Costs for your calls will be specified on your regular Bell Canada telephone bill
BTW Owbist, you do know don't you that you have Shaner's avatar? I mean, I know there's no property rights in avatars...lol....but it is confusing for those of us who are so used to one's avatar that we don't even read tlhe name and just assume it's the person who's had if for, well for a really long time. Not a rant, just an observation/comment...:)

I've studied cases where people have taken companies to small claims court over these situations. It is considered libel. However, having been on both sides of the table in a lawsuit I can say that suing isn't as satisfying as I once thought it would be.
