I know this is not the freebie section but the threads about those free Maple Leaf coupons were locked. Just saw on global tv news that the copied coupons that were made for those free products are no longer being accepted and their use is prohibited! Only the original coupons will be accepted in stores. It made it all the way to the 6 o'clock news.

Shame on you RFD :|

(I never made any copies of those coupons)

It was pointed out in the thread by many posters (including myself) that using them was fraud, but some people put up the argument that "oh, well maple leaf lied and covered up the listeria outbreak so this is okay."

RFD has had a bad week for media coverage, perhaps there will be some bans handed out to people who openly abuse things.

RFD's reputation sure is going down the drain..... maybe we should all do some volunteer work to contribute society like helping the elders.

And just who do you suppose could be making those "other" brands under license?

They should be happy anyone is even taking a chance on them again. This is good thing for them believe it or not, slowly they're restoring consumer confidence in their products.

Brandt meats is pretty good. I haven't eaten at Subway since this listeria thing happened, and I'm probably not going to eat there for a good while.

Hygrade
Nutriwhip
Prime Turkey
Shopsy's
Tenderflake
Maison-Cousin
Schneider

are all MLF brands.

Was RFD mentioned in the story?

I thought Subway didn't buy from Maple Leafs, at least that's what I remember during the incident.

Whatever Mr./Ms. High and Mighty... like you haven't ever done anything questionable in your life. Have you ever went over the speed limit? Have you ever lied to someone?

I didn't even know about these coupons until I read this thread so I have no idea of what they even look like. But for those who did use them, maybe some didn't know that they were not legit at the time they were using them. Maybe the original poster did not know that they were not legit and just wanted to share the info that they found - regardless it's not you to decide that the entire RFD community is disgraceful.

If the coupons/thread was removed and people had saved them and still tried to use them knowing that they were not legit, then I'd agree, shame on them... but not the entire RFD population. RFD has no control over what people post. RFD mods react accordingly to what the members post or notify them of.

Next time you post something like this, you should think twice about likening yourself to have the moral standards of a Saint.

What if the Marks Work Warehouse coupon was a fake too and you used that? I saw that you "missed out on that deal".

This may be harsh, but I took extreme offense to your prejudice against the RFD community as a whole with your statement "Shame on you RFD". If you think that we are immoral, then get lost - no one is forcing you to be a part of this community.

Shame on you for generalizing.

Okay several weeks ago to a month ago I tried to use the coupons at my local Zehrs store. The cashier buzzed the acting manager who told me they were not being accepted as they were fraudulent coupons. I argued about this so she showed me the letter that was dated something like November 20 from Maple Leaf saying that the printed coupons that were being circulated were not going to be accepted by Maple Leaf for reimbursement from the stores. Only the ones in the annual report would be accepted. However when I tried to get the annual financial report I was lied to and told they were out of stock and I could request one in January. I gave them crap in emails saying I knew about the coupons and how coincidental is that they were out of the reports now and after the coupons expired the reports would be available again.
At first I was told they would only accept the coupons from the report then later they said they are not taking any of the coupons. I have read that some Walmart stores are taking them but they shouldn't be because they will not get reimbursed for them. Also when I read the newsletter from Maple Leaf shown to me by the acting manager in the Zehr's store it said that because of sites like Red Flag Deals and Frugal Shopper the letter was being sent as those coupons are fradulent. I mentioned to the store manager and Maple Leaf that these coupons are on the Media Corporate site and are legit. Anyhow that point was lost. The point is that at least one member here and at Frugal Shopper has obviously pointed out the coupons could be found here and Frugal or they wouldn't have known. The link to the coupons was NOT a direct link at all to the Maple Leaf site. It was to a posted image and or a PDF file on the Corporate Media site that couldn't be traced so whoever opened their mouth should have kept it shut!

First, do you honetly think that Exec's and others from Maple Leaf and other Corporations do not know of and do not visit RFD and the only way they found out is from a RFD member (or members)?

Second, Maple Leaf and any other company can make their own rules for their coupons they offer. Just because the year in report was donwloadable from their site, it does not mean the coupons would be legit if they were printed from that download. If they say only the coupons from the mailed copy of the report are valid then thems the rules. Don't like it?? Oh well. Nothing you can do.

If Maple Leaf wants to say that there are no more reports to mail out and they won't be available until later and it happens to coincide(sp) with the expiry date of said coupons, who are you to say they are lying?

It come across as being very bitter. Move on. Life is to short to get upset about a free package of hotdogs.

People in Toronto will do anything to save a penny. Im not surprised.

Maybe they shouldnt have leased out 3 BMW's and bought a house $300,000 more than they can afford.
