Which part? I was just in South Van and it's just a little dusting. Vancouver, especially south van has micro pockets. Last year, there was very little snow in some parts of S. Van but the moment you went up a bit (north) you got a good dump.
The forecast is for below zero temps, even going below -8 (before windchill) next week. Driving in Ditchmond is ideal when it snows, not that they get much anyways, cuz it's flat. No hills. ;)

Ya, eh. All the exams on SFU Burnaby campus are canceled . I have friends that are stressing because they want to get them done and over with. Luckily, I finished the day before it started snowing.

I am near the Royal Columbian Hospital in New West and the snow is trickling down. The yard and side streets are covered with a good dusting but not by much .... Its beautiful.

If it snows much tonight ... good thing it isn't Monday morning rush hour tomorrow.

With -9C overnight and 40 percent chance of flurries in the morning this snow isn't going to be going anywhere. Supposed to be sunny and below zero on Mon/Tue with snow on Weds .... it looks like the white stuff is going to be here for a few days anyways.

I was on Granville tonight and even though it snowed there were lots of people out tonight. Couple of cms stuck on the ground. I love it! We never get snow here. I already got one exam extension due to snow..hopefully monday it will all melt away because I want to be done this semester asap!

lol here is a little tip for you - Canada is the 2nd largest country in the world... when it snows on one side, it doesn't necessarily on the other. We have all of zero snow in downtown. Up north we do.

And don't worry, it will rain tomorrow and you'll be back to normal

Exams cancelled for 4cm of snow!?!?

SFU is on a mountain...it snows a bit more then everywhere else, and even a little but of snow can cause huge delays in traffic, and delays in the bus service which most of the students rely on

I'm assuming that's a type and should say 40cm of snow. No way an university exam will be cancelled for only 4cm of snow.

Hehehehe... Like jayisthebest88 says, the GVR has lots of hills/mounts. Just a it of snow and they're screwed. Not surprising, though. We get a bit of snow in Ottawa and there's traffic too.

I live in Vernon, BC and we got about 28-30 cm overnight, and the ski hill(silverstar) got 58 cm, its nice that they finally have some snow, it was such a dry beginning of the season, now we get a huge dump of snow.

I live right near Fraserview Golf course.
The amount of snowfall was perfect. not that much. but cleared up by today (sunday).

As for SFU, i heard the exams on Saturday got canceled, i wonder what they will do? reschedule or allow students to take standing grade?

500 Sq. ft. single bedroom: probably about $1500-1700+ a month with a view like that, $1200-1500+ everywhere else.. Oh, and take a $10,000 pay cut off what you are currently making out east. Oh how I love my province!

Peckerwood, does your body get used to the cold?

Transit will be a biatch tomorrow, bus will be full, and skytrain will play it's game of "should i work or shut down?" - crap! Plan to exercise a bit and walk home from work, 1.5 hours, hope my clothes will be warm enough.

Peckerwood, does your body get used to the cold?
Yup

The first week or two I was shivering lots. But after that I don't shiver anymore even when I get a bit cold...your body just gets accustomed to it and ramps up the internal heat.

At least that is my experience. Dressing appropriately works too, but one must be careful not to wear too many layers...sweat = cold.

Thats the Burrad St. bridge. Granville is off to the left.

Every August the owner points the camera to the rooftop towards the bottom because every year a seagull has 2-3 chicks. The camera then takes pics as they grow, eat, fly away, etc. Last year all 3 made. The year before that, all died ='( The year before that, one made it. This year, however, the person didn't follow up on what happened to the chicks.

The person also takes pics of the Symphony of Fire every year.

The person took pics of a fire at a restuarant in Kits a year ago.

More snow yesterday. Yay!

The weather will stay cold for the rest of the week, which I hope kills a lot of insect eggs and whatnot. I live in an older house, and the foundations isn't bug-proof :(. 2008 was not bad, since the snow we had in April probably helped eliminate some of the bugs.

The territories are the coldest parts of Canada...and it doesn't kill off the mosquitoes. In fact the colder it gets, the worse they become the next year.

;)

We have more mosquitoes than any tropical place in the world.

Dec 18th, 2008, 06:03 PM
That's okay. Not a lot of mosquitoes in Vancouver. There's more in North Vancouver.

What you need is one of those sonic repellers from Deal Extreme :).

Can't take sonic mosquito repeller out for a walk to the bush...I wouldn't have room for my rifle or shotgun.
