First off, this is my first deal :)
I was browsing thesource.ca clearance and found this deal that looks hot. It's a firewire 4-pin to 6-pin cable by Monster (supposedly of better quality). What do you guys think?

Couldn't find any stock in stores next to me (Mtl) but it's available in stock online and you can ship it to your store.

what sort of camcorders does this connect from? Without any firm specs, it's hard to say if this will work for my Sony HDR7 hi-def camcorder...

It's a standard firewire cable, so it will work with nearly all DV/miniDV camcorders. Sony calls refers to firewire as i.LINK (but it's exactly the same thing).

I always consider iLink is Firewire-without-Fire (2 power circuits are omitted) :)

just shows you how overpriced monster cables are
especially in FS where they try to jam it down your throat when you're buying a TV

lol didn't even think about that! But I'm sure they'll use the fact that it's not available online to deny the PM.

Impossible to find out with the description indeed. I purchased one and waiting for it to arrive to the store. I'll let you guys know when I receive it. I'll be using it with my new sony miniDV camcorder I got during the Zellers liquidation (thx RFD!).

Actually, it's exactly it, I received it today. So I can confirm that it's 6ft (2m).

Thanks OP...none in Winnipeg but thesource.ca had stock online...shipped to my local store for free. I think it's hilarious thst FS wants $80 for this stupid cable. Not even worth the entertainment value to try and PM it.
Now all I need is a cheap miniSD card...
