I've seen the commercials and it gets positive reviews everywhere I look so I've been tempted to get them but they're pricey at $20 a piece usually. Saw them at Walmart today for $14.77. Lowest price I've ever seen them.

Not this one. It's the new version that has silicone grips.

how is this better than, say, a wet towel?

well for starters.. everything is better than a wet towel.. even that same towel dry.. because the water actually conducts the heat.. :/

Yes... don't use a wet towel, dry it anything.
So does anyone own one these? I figure it'd be nice to use for BBQ season.

I still think the Ove Glove is a waste of money, though. You can buy kitchen towels at Dollarama for a buck a piece that will allow you to remove trays from your oven no problem.

I saw this in the WM flyer two weeks ago, and thought to myself, this is a good deal. LNT, prior to going bankrupt, sold these for $25. Even in the States, most kitchen stores sell it for USD$15, so it's nice to get it at par.
I was thinking of picking up a second, but haven't yet. I like it because you have better dexterity, so I find it easier to lift handles/larger pans. Just don't touch the silicone grips after using it, because they'll be scorching hot.

Anyone who thinks a towel is as good as one of these has never used one. These are amazing - I love mine. But I learned to be very careful to never get it wet (...or feed it after midnite, but that's another story...)

I bought the 'old' version without any silicone on it a few years ago from Canadian Tire for $20. It works great.
I tend to use my giant oven mitts more often because they require less effort to slip my hand into and covers more of the arm. But if you need your fingers to handle utensils (like tongs), then the ove glove is perfect.

I dunno, maybe it's the kitchen experience in me that says I should refrain from using a product like this, but I've never had a problem pulling anything out of an oven with a towel.

I would normally agree with you...I don't own any other kitchen 'uni-taskers' or anything 'as seen on TV' - but this product is great. It's pretty much the same as a welding glove, but cheaper and designed for home use.

Never use a wet towel to take anything out of the oven...the water will get heated and burn you. Only use a Dry towel to take anything out of the oven

No fingers and really inflexible. But you can dunk them into boiling water to grab stuff.

I don't have this exactly, but do have a Burnguard oven mitt that is flameproof. It is not from a gimicky store and was from a cooking/restaurant shop and was told you could keep your hand over a bbq flame for a few minutes no problem as it was the same material as fireman suits.
Was not cheap as I paid $25 for 1 oven mit...
But I had several cheapo oven mits and the slightest touch of the burners on the stoves I was using sent my old oven mits in flames in like 30 seconds.
So, not too crazy about the cheapo oven mitts.
The silicone ones are good to grip stuff as they are rubbery.

I've had this oven mitts for 6 years so far and it is just like new, use it every day pretty much :)
I'd feel kinda dumb wearing a glove for hot foods. couln't they make the color better. looks just yucky...
