According to the staff at the Yorkdale location... the 20% off $125 does stack on top of promotions (like this one).. but not permanent markdowns.

If someone at the store says otherwise.. ask to speak to the manager.

I received another email with a 20% off coupon with an extension to Dec 31st, didn't everyone else get it? I think just as long as the product rings up with the 40% off already, they can stack the 20% off, at least that's what one of the staff told me.

I would just re-buy w/ the new discount and worry about returning the other items later. If you do too many transactions, I think the cashier will become confused and you'll need manager overides, etc. Just buy what you want w/ the new discount and return your old purchases later (according to refund policy).

That's how I usually do my returns, etc.

I've never seen any of that stuff go on sale. Most coupons even explicitly say "not valid on Monogram collection".

The 20% off $125 purchase coupon however, is the first time I've seen a valid discount on the Monogram stuff. At least, I *think* it's valid... But even with discount, I think the Monogram collection is overpriced!

30% f&f
40% off selected merchandise (see my thread)
20% off $125+ (which u can use whenever u sign up for their newsletter)
...and now this 40% one day only??

what do we attribute to these sales? the company losing money? recessions? gas prices? obama?? mumbai attacks???? whatever it is... let's just be thankful we're all in a position to take advantage of our insatiable need to fulfill the already luxuriously gluttonous lifestyles we live and not to mention the unfettered mass consumption we RFD'rs enjoy. joy to the RFD! ;)

Yup - these things are store dependent. In GVR last time they had a promo with potential to stack discounts, the BR closest to me said no, but the BR about 30 min away allowed stacking. Definitely YMMV - I don't they they have a clear company policy.

I got the email too. It has no barcode for the cashier to scan, or "discount code" to enter. Therefore I think every regular priced item in the store will automatically be discounted 40% off when you ring it up.

On the other hand, if you look at the 20% off $125 purchase coupon, there is a "reason code". This coupon you will need to bring in.

Personally, I think you should be able to stack the two discounts. Everybody that shops that day will get the 40% off regular priced items. Only those with the 20% off $125 coupon will get the extra bonus.

I was at BR at the Calgary TD Square today and asked them about combining the 40% with the 20% coupon. They said that they WILL NOT accept the combination with the one that was sent by email. They would only accept the 20% coupon that was given out in store with a purchase during the last sale. The guy knew exactly what I was talking about and I'm pretty sure I wasn't the first to ask him about it today.

The 20% you get from the survey says "20% off one regular priced item at BR". I'm not sure if that is entirely correct if the sales person says it can be stacked. Either way, it would apply to 1 item only.

the 20% off 125 Works in conjunction with the 40%

Picked up two pairs of pants and a peacoat. The net savings is basically 52% off retail price.

My husband went to the Square One location this morning, and used the 20% coupon successfully. No question asked. I think he got lucky because on the coupon it does say it can't be used with other promotion. The girl just applied the discount without taking the coupon.

He bought 1 jacket and 2 knitted tops. $309 before taxes. After discount it's $148.32.

Good luck!

edit: after reading the posts above mine, looks like the 20% coupon can be used! Nice!

Ugh... With so many promotions going on, I think some of you are getting them mixed up.

Yes, there exists a 20% off thing which they randomly print on the bottom of receipts. You go fill in a survey online, and at the end you're given a code for 20% off ONE REGULAR PRICED ITEM. You will need this code upon paying at the cashier. Let's call this promo #1.

Then there is a 20% off ANY $125+ purchase. That coupon has been posted in this thread, and you get it by signing up at bananarepublic.ca to be on their mailing list. This originally ended on Nov 30, but a new version has it extended to Dec 31. There is a code (different from promo #1) associated with this and once again you will need this when paying. Call this promo #2.

Finally, today they're having 40% off all REGULAR PRICED items. That means if it's not in the sale section (i.e. it's not marked down with a new price tag on an existing one), the item should ring up 40% off the ticketed price at the cashier. Promo #3.

So assuming you buy $125+ today after the 40% off (promo #3), you can use promo #2 because it's not restricted to regular priced items. I don't even see this as stacking because you're only using one coupon code.

You cannot, however, use promo #1 because you are buying items that are on sale (today only), and promo #1 is only for a single, regular priced item.

Clear as mud?

What I find weird, is that they did this one day sale on a Wednesday, and not on a weekend. I'm not able to make it to the mall today!

just got back from lunch hour at the Bloor St store. it's packed in there, long lines.

They let me stack the 20% "more the merrier" card (good till Dec 22) with the 40% discount so the deal was good. lots of action downstairs in the women's sweater dept, lineups for changerooms too. Still lots of merch left.

Keep an eye on the total, the cashier gave me 40$ off one item instead of 40%. which means I have to go back! such a hardship.. (I work next door).

have fun!

Stacked the 20% off coupon.
I had a friend who worked there ask, and she was thinking that the $125 can be before the 40% off.....can't confirm since I bought $200 worth of stuff.
Rebought a sweater I got with the F&F and I'll return that one tomorrow.

Fairly busy at 10:30 at TD Downtown, but will only get busier.
She said they opened at 8 to accomodate people since so many people were putting items on hold.

The Visa 20% off coupon was actually 15% off, and it expired on October 31.

Since you haven't been reading my posts, the survey 20% off promo is only on one regular priced item - and today's items are not regular priced since they are 40% off.

Maybe it's the 'one day only' combined with explicit '40% off' signs that are catching more people's attention. I remember that they had only 'up to 30% off' signs during that other sale for some reason (at least at Eaton Centre).

Was at the markville mall location after work. Got there at around 6ish, then looked around and tried on some clothes, after about 40 mins, when i finished trying on everything and went around looking again, a lot of sizes were already gone, and the cashier line-up was getting longer!
Had my 20% off coupon and the person in front of me managed to use the coupon as well, because he saw i had one and asked me about it, then he asked the cashier if he could use it on his purchase as well, but the cashier declined saying they need to have the same # of copies of the print-outs to the same # of discounts given. Then the customer asked if he could go photocopy it and bring back both copies, and the cashier agreed. So he went off to find a photocopier at markville mall. In the end, i ended up spending $350, and the person that used my coupon saved well over $150 since his purchase was $780 before the coupon was used!

In GVR, the estimated wait line at the Robson St. location is 20 minutes.

Was there about 10:30 this morning, the guys section was a breeze, had more women than men shopping in the area. Lots of cute ladies, but I digress. Got in the lineup about 11:10AM, and my curse set in, I always get people with issues in front of me. One (older) lady had an issue and another had an issue with her bill after she had left the store. Another lady couldn't figure out which underwear to buy, took an extra 5 minutes because the new saleslady didn't know how to enter the transaction so another salesperson had to help her, so two lines were tied up. All this time, my meter was expiring.

Finally, after about 20 minutes, got to the cashier, very nice transaction, easy and smooth. I can only imagine the madhouse at lunchtime and after work, thank goodness for overtime and being able to take it any time. Spent $170 after taxes...BR has taken about $500 in the last month...ouch!

okay there is something weird about this promo

there is a shirt i want, but it was $20 off the original price = on sale. so I couldn't use the 40% off on it!!! not even on the regular price. that is so messed up. why would they do that???

I picked up my wife after work and swung over to the Bloor St. BR again at around 5. It was definately getting busy, and by 6pm the lineups were 45+ min long.

Selection was still surprisingly decent, and the staff was courteous and cheerful, even after a stressful day like today.

Thanks OP for lots of money saved!

The saleguy @ Ottawa Rideau Centre location did allow me to stack the 20% off $125 on top of the 40% off so I ended up getting nothing (was going to get that grey men's short wool jacket).

Was just at Rideau Centre BR and they did not accept my 20% coupon.

I thought it was kind of funny why it was empty, OC transpo strike, maybe, but cashiers who go on power trips, more likely.

It had worked last time with 30% off outerwear sale.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed too :(

anyway, seems like stacking works everywhere but down town Ottawa.

Didn't go to Bayshore... not with today's road condition and bad traffics...

After experiencing horrible lineups at bloor at 1pm thankfully bought the coat i wanted for super cheap :)

I went over to eaton centre... boy... lineups were no better and all the displays were literally raped...

Seemed like i had walked in old navy.

Good sale for people who were looking for pants/shirts and accessories. Nothing out of the ordinary for sweaters as we had a week long 40% off for those.

cheers

I was at the Robson street location at around 10 am up until 10:45 ish this morning. There weren't that many people there in the morning but as I was leaving it was beginning to fill up. I didn't find very much that I liked unfortunately...I managed to get the 20% off added onto the 40% sale. I bought a wool coat but i'm probably going to return it. I'm actually kinda disappointed that I couldn't find any more items that I liked with tie 60% discount!

Was anyone able to use the 20% discount at the Robson location in Vancouver?

I tried but I was told it wouldn't work. I didn't have time to argue it so I just took the 40% which is still damn good for me. I came in just when it opened so I avoided the line-ups. :)

I was able to use the 20% coupon on top no questions asked. This is actually the second time i've used the 20% off on top of an existing in store discount at the Robson location.
If the salesperson says you can't use it make sure you get them to ask the floor manager and they should be able to clear it up for you. Tip for their next deal ;)

Yesterday at Bloor store around 7 pm was insane. The line up in the basement went from one end of the store to the other. Must have been an hour wait at least.

Do you think the 20% coupon will work on boxing day?

I went to the Square One location right before 4:30 in order to avoid the after work crowd. Lucky me, it wasn't super busy. I was able to get what I wanted, got a change room instantly and just had 2 people in front of me for the cashier lineup. I bought a sweater and a pair of pants. Good deal, cute cashier said I could have used the 20% coupon, but I was $17 short - I didn't want anything else though. Oh well, I'm still pleased the deal I got

But i find that Markville's selection is rather small..

The Markville location is probably the worst BR in Toronto. The place is so tiny for a big name store like that.

I knew the after work crowd was going to invade every location, glad I avoided them

Don't know if the coupon will work, but just bring and try it that day.

Hmm, I'm wondering if BR will step up with their Boxing Day sale this year? They hardly been known to do anything much that day, but maybe a change this year to get consumers spending?

BR's winter season-end sale will likely start on December 23. I have a 20% BR-on-going discount card that expires on December 22. The discounts are never better on Boxing Day, so it's best to get your stuff on December 23, or 24. In any event, I highly doubt that the first round of markdowns will be better than yesterday's sale; the second round of markdowns don't start until sometime in January and by then, you're very hard-pressed to find things in a reasonable size (e.g. S, or M.)

so is this 40% off event expired or still on today?

Seems like that person in BC bought something this morning.

Otherwise, please move thread to expired.

Still a bit bitter about Rideau refusing. They had so much selection, and good for them I guess on it since the employees don't have to work hard when not many people are in the store.

bought a bunch of shirts yesterday, saved over $200.
But I just noticed BR's stuff is not as slim fitting as Mexx...in fact, Mexx's line seems a lot more slim in the waist area.

I always thought both stores were european cut.

I called Customer Support for BR this morning to complain about how some stores allowed the 20% and others refused to stack (I did not mention the ones that did, only the one I shopped at... ). They said that the company had specifically informed the customer support staff at HQ that the 20% was not valid with the 40% one day sale.

However, he did mention that I should go back to the store and express my concern to the manager. Oddly enough they do have the option to override the policy in order to make a customer happy...

I will go back tomorrow night - because two of my items were not discounted. So I will see what they can do.

Went at 11:00 to the Metrotown location. There was a line-up at the register, but it was a < 5min wait. Not really packed given it was mid-weekday in the morning. I'm sure it picked up after work.

Saved ~$325 off ~$700 of clothes. I should really stop visiting RFD. :)

That's crap that the store would do that. I dealt with 2 male associates in there yesterday around 3pm, one of them a "Team Leader" and they denied me.

they told me if they allowed it, they might as well be giving it to me for free. Well, after that comment, I said, no thanks, I won't buy it without the additional 20%.

Apparently Bayshore location was allowing it and they said, rookie cashiers there. Thanks, you guys must be veterans at the till.
