Seems like a pretty good price to me. PoCo Costco has lots of the Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 640gb external hard drives for 119.xx plus tax. Same price at Costco's website, but 10.00 extra for shipping (sold out at the moment).

$100 for a 640 external harddrive isn't really that cheap.

you can get a 500gb internal on sale for $50 and buy a external harddrive case for ~$10-20

1TBs are starting to appear at $99.99 every now and then

Sure, you can do this but I'd like to see you try and get a refund if your drive and/or case dies within the first year. Full refund at Costco.

most drive has MORE warranty on internal drives than external
and Costco req for ppl to have the membership
if u got it thru a friend and the drive dies within a year u have to ask friend to do you favor again

Lets not forget most external cases you buy for $10-$20 are complete garbage and do more harm to your HD then it will benefit you. They have poor build quality and poor air flow.

Im skeptical on ZData. I wonder what kind of HDD they use inside of that thing.
I dont need it crashing and erasing everything,
