I have a subwoofer with a ported box in my trunk. I put it in about 4-5 years ago, and now i kind of need the room in my trunk since I drive around alot more. Is it possible to move it somewhere inside my car and will i notice a big drop in bass quality? Its a 12inch sub, pretty old now

I would think it would sound better if you moved it inside the car. The trunk is just used as that's where people can find space.

where do u plan on putting it

thats right, people put it on the trunk because there is no other place to put it. If you want to sacrifice seat for music. Then no problem.

one of my friends has the subwoofer(no box) mounted kind of near the corner roof of his backseat area, so people could still sit and it never got in the way

this may not be a direct answer to your question but in a previous car, i had a 12" sub and it took up a good portion of my trunk.

I went and bought a male & female, medical grade 3-prong plug (like you see on the end of an extension cord / 120v plug in your house). i cut the ground/positive/remote and connected the female end of the plug in my trunk, and the male end, to the wires from the box. whenever i needed the extra room, i just unplugged my box and put in in the garage for the day

in ze back! I took out my original speakers in the back and replaced them with subs in my older car, no problems just had to make some minor adjustments, sounded nice too!

I also notice most people have their subs facing outwards in their trunk instead of inwards ...odd to me :S

But back on topic the sound will be nice if the subs are inside, just remember it will be less muffled so expect some tuning down on the bass will be needed.

Do some reading and you'll quickly find out why people do this!

As for the OP you could always add a small 50wpc amp and a couple of "bass shakers" under the front seats, and get a huge % of the effect of the low bass.

More trunk rattle? Louder but not better? etc Yeah I've read and yet to see any information saying it is better to have it faced out on typical setups.

Yes you will notice a drop in quality and loudness. Why dont you just put whatever you want in the trunk on the seats?

i have family who also use the backseats alot. another reason is i get insane trunk rattle and ive tried everything from dynamat and other sound deadners on ebay but i cant get rid of it. I must have like 3 layers of sound deadner lining my trunk. Im just tired of it and want a new approach

Based on what? That makes no sense.
