I got a chip in my windshield last new years and never got around to filling it...well, this morning i accidentally cranked the defrost and you can guess what happend from there. Cracked spanning the entire windshield:cry:
Its a lease so i have to replace it. Its a 2008 ford escape, and im in the oakville/burlington/hamilton/mississauga area. Anyone find good place for replacment at a decent price? I called several stores today (sunday) but all are closed??
Thanks

I asked around the shops that don't do windshields.
They'll refer you to the cheapest person they know.
I got my new windshield for $180. Two guys came to my place in a minivan and replaced my windshield in 20minutes. They left some dirt/debris in my car so I needed to do a little vacuuming afterwards, but it's a good price so I didn't complain :D.
Any retail windshield shops I asked priced at 300+. and dealership prices are just ridiculous

so, basically you went to a mechanic that did not specialize in glass replacement? Never thought of that...

We went to a reputable shop to have our windshield replaced. Long story short, they scratched the roof, window pillars and hood somehow while replacing the windshield. They paid to have the hood, roof and window pillars repainted but when the job was done, the place that repainted it did not properly prep the area under the window moulding and it is now rusting like crazy. Apparently the window was not removed when it was painted and of course the place that did the work will not cover the rust damage. Just be careful of where you take the vehicle and who you have do the work.
