Is it from the car rental company themselves?

Cuz we have a gold VISA RBC card that covers damage only, not liability

thanks

Are you expecting to get into a Car Accident ?

I don't have a gold visa RBC card, but i've applied for a US Target Visa card, with some kind of "Auto rental collission damage waiver" and i have used that to rent vehicles so many times in the US.

I've never thought twice about liability and if not for your thread, after reading closer, "personal liability" is not covered and is purely a "CDW" alternative to paying the rental agency's CDW fee. I don't think there is any Credit Card that would have that kind of coverage even for CAN car rentals. Never have i heard of this.

Even with regards to liability coverage, i've never heard it offered or made mandatory by any of the big name rental companies (Budget, Avis, Thrifty, etc etc) on both sides of the border.

In my experience, the only places that required this was in Puerto Rico, Mexico and by certain no-name independents in Canada.

If you stick with the big names and use your Visa card, unless you choose luxury options (such as GPS, baby seat, etc), you'll only be paying for the "rental time, rental mileage, rental gas" and the necessary applicable taxes. No CDW and definitely no inflicted "liability" charge.

If i'm wrong, let me know.
