My kids (8, 10) have been using the Windows Paint software to create pictures on the computer.

Is there any software available which will allow them to create more advanced or elaborate creations?

Thanks

+1 for Paint.NET ... http://www.getpaint.net/screenshots.html

And the price can't be beaten ... Free :)

It's not too demanding on hardware ... It usually requires < 100MB of RAM during single picture editing ...
