repeat key problem

After I built my computer it worked perfectly except when I hold a key down, it will repeat and type out several keys, then freeze. When I release the key several more of the types letters will appear. Sometimes the computer will make an error beep.

I know my keyboard works fine as I used it in my old computer.

I have played with the keyboard properties>speed tab which has not helped.

Any suggestions?:(
