Just thought I would share my recent experience with PC Financial Mastercard. Did an application online this past weekend and received a post office notice that came in the mail today. Scratching my head I wondered what it could be and called up PC MC to inquire if It might be the credit card knowing that they sometimes require a signature to receive it. Indeed the lady on the phone said yes, you were approved and the cc was sent out to canada post for you to sign for it. All I can say is wow, 3 days from application to reception. Never had anything received that fast. I will pick it up tomorrow morning. Must be in a hurry to get the cards out in time for xmas shopping.

3 days?
Far too slow.
I'm used to 5 minute approvals with MBNA.

I am just saying that it took only 3 days for the approval and actual receipt of the card in hand. I know there are other instant approval cards but personally have never actually received the card as quick as this for me. I thought it was pretty quick when online it says anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks.

Congrats.
It took me 6 weeks to get my PCF card.

I applied for my PCMC online about an hour or so after I opened my accounts at a pavilion. I think I received it in the mail about a week or so later. It was in the regular mail with no signature obviously. That was in September...
Fast forward to about a month ago. I received a phone call for PCMC saying that they had "not done the activation process correctly" or something to that effect and said I had to answer some questions for them. I thought this was quite strange as I had already put a couple of grand on the card and I think had already made a payment. Initially I refused to answer the questions on the phone (I just thought it was quite strange and possibly a scam). The guy said fine, they would send something in the mail, but my card would be suspended until they received the info back. So I answered the phone questions. It was all on the up and up, nothing weird (like SIN or whatever) and it was all info that only a person with access to my accounts would know. He said the questions were generated by the credit bureau or something.
Just an FYI in case you get a similar call. Buddy said it had something to do with recent changes to the CC system or something in June of this year.
Anyway...

Sometimes when this happens and I'm really suspicious, I just call them back. They give you a reference number and you call the 1800 number. That way you're sure about who you're talking to.

$7500
I also opened a LOC that same day for $10k. The strange thing is that I didn't have to show proof of income, which the pavilion rep said he had never seen before.

They even have 1.9% balance transfer for 6 months so I transferred a balance from another useless card over to it and will utilize the lower interest rate and pay it off before the six months and close out the other card. This card looks like it will suit me just fine.

Congrats.
What type of proof of income do they normally require?

As I was applying, he said that I would need a recent pay stub (and maybe something else, I don't recall) to confirm the LOC. I told him how much I made, he did the application, and said that I was approved for $10k @ 7.5% (I think) without any further info (beside's my SIN and other standard stuff). He said that it was unusual, and he didn't recall in recent memory anyone else being exempt from that confirmation requirement.
FYI, I didn't really need the LOC from PCF (I already have one from TD), but I figured it would be decent to have. I honestly thought I would get more at potentially a lower rate. He called in and they denied both. He said to call back in 6 months after the get an idea of your cash flow, and they may help you more.
I've had no issues with PCF thus far.

Any idea of what kind of credit score range they're looking for when you apply for a LOC? I'm not applying right now - probably going to look into one in a few months - but I'm just curious.
Strange thing though - I applied for a PC Mastercard a while back, and was denied due to credit (this was a while ago). Got a joint PC account, and just a few weeks ago they called offering me a PC Mastercard. Is this probably just because I'm already using PCF services? As in...would it be easier to get credit from them if you're using their services already?
Just curious.

Somewhat similar situation here.
I've had a joint account at PCF for over 3 years. Tried to apply for a PC Mastercard 2 months ago, but I got rejected. Strangely enough. they phoned me a couple weeks later trying to get me to apply for a PC Mastercard. I told them that I applied already and got rejected, and they hung up.
I'm guessing that their marketing and credit approval departments don't communicate with one another. So to answer your question, I don't think it'll be easier to get approved if you're an existing user of their services. I've been using their services for over 3 years and still got rejected.

Okay thanks. Yeah I told them I didn't want the MC, I just recently got a secured card to help rebuild my credit, I don't really need another card! Though the interest on the balance transfer would have been pretty good for me, I'll have to look up their terms & conditions.

I applied for a RBC Visa card, and got it within a week, I was quite surprised that it was so fast!
I got a gold card as well, although I didn't even request it, I've never had this kind of card before and I'm in my early 20s so it might feel odd using it.
