We love it as a family restaurant. Great value for the money.

First started going to there 20 years ago. Times have changed. Not what it used to be. Many other better spaghetti houses around these days. Rarely is the bread hot anymore. Gave up on them after three previous visits and everytime the bread was not hot.

I think it might be better for you to look for a bread factory.

tried it out 10 years ago in Vancouver and it was a great hit.. good food good price..
I recently went to the one at West Edmonton Mall and was really disapointed. Staff is too young, not offering a professional service and the food didnt look tasty. Salad was brown and small.
Like above said, you can find better food at same price elsewhere.

The one in Vancouver is great, but for some reason Toronto just doesn't match up. Great value though.

that could not be any more true. the Toronto location has gone downhill from years before and isnt worth the money.

I worked at the spaghetti factory in toronto for a few years. I wouldn't eat there if you paid me. It's not a hygiene issue, its a food quality issue. Very very VERY bland. I really can't think of anything on their menu that's even remotely worth the price. And their prices are cheap!

Combine this with the 2-for-1 coupon from the Entertainment Book or the Toronto Life Coupon Book and you've got a reasonable dinner for a reallllllllly cheeeeeaaap price.

I used to like it as it was good value, but now I prefer East Side Marios...if only for the Italian wedding soup!

I was at the Vancouver location a little while back and I must say that the quality and service has declined somewhat from what I remember. It's fun for the kids though but if you are a pasta enthusiest, you will be quite dissapointed.

This is a great place for a large group meal, not a quiet date.
There is better food out there, but once you factor appetizers, bread and dessert are included for the price, it's a great meal for what you pay.
If the bread isn't warm, just ask them for a fresh loaf. It's really the garlic butter that makes the bread dissapear so quickly.
IMOH, this place is way better than Olive Garden...

Yup. We always try to visit Old Spaghetti Factory when we take a trip somewhere.
The Banff one is nice. Same with the Victoria one. The Honolulu one was pretty decent too, a nice old plantation feel...

Many yrs ago, I remember going and it was kinda fun.
Went again a few months ago, the food was horrible. The pasta sauce tasted worse than canned. At least from my plate, that sauce was not home made at all.
Too bad the Organ Grinder is gone.

the edmonton locations in west edmonton mall and downtown are pretty good. lotsa yummy hot fresh bread w/ garlic butter. :D
IMO, tastier and cheaper than the olive garden.
fyi, last year you could only use one $10 bonus card per visit. i forgot to use them and they expired.
thanks OP.

I went to the Toronto location about 2 or 3 times in the past 3 years, and I was not impressed at all.
And speaking of East Side Marios - that place is just terrible. The most bland tasting pasta.

I'm pretty sure you're not talking about the hot sausage penne. That one is delicious.

The Toronto location has been going downhill for years. The food sucks, and the service is horrible if you go with a big group.
The sauce they use for their pasta tastes like it's Ragu. Not very good at all.
You couldn't pay me to eat there.

The sauce at the one from Toronto is horrible. It tastes like it came out of a can. I refuse to eat there. I can't speak for the food at the other locations.

Ate at the Banff one last month and it was very good! Good service and value in a town where it's easy to find neither.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned the Mizithra a la Homer dish yet. It's the only one I order (either that or the Manager's Special, so I can get that and the spicy meat sauce). I actually used to get questioned by the staff when I ordered (i.e. "Have you tried this before?") -- I guess it's an acquired taste.
Yes, definitely great for the kids -- it's their favourite restaurant -- and great value. The ice cream's pretty decent and a nice throw-in.

i didnt even know there was this restaurant in Toronto. My only memory of it was going there for lunch when i was 8.. and that was either during a vacation in another province or another country.
Love to go again for old times' sake, but reading this thread it doesnt seem to be as good as it use to be.

I went to this place when on vacation in Victoria, against my wife's advice. I had to find out why it was always so busy, if there's always people there, it must be good, right?
WRONG-the worst lunch I had that week, as bland as bland can be, and the restaurant itself wasn't even clean or the service good.
This restaurant will be a mystery to me from now on. How can a dump like this survive and actually prosper in any market it goes to? All you need is a cool name and generic no-name spaghetti sauce and some noodles and you can make a fortune!

Ok those of you hating on the toronto factory... esp those who claim there are better choices out there... i think you would actually add some value to this thread if you mentioned those better alternatives instead of just dissing the places that suck?
i would like to know where there is good pasta in toronto.
