Not a good deal...

Only a Class 4, for this price you should be getting at least a 8gb, and if you ask me get a 16GB for just a little more. Got a Patriot 16GB class 6 for under $40 from a NCIX Pricematch.

I believe it is a class 6.

Although it is not as inexpensive as other class 6 sdhc, reviews indicate that the extra speed when used in a DSLR may compensate for the additional cost.

Wrong.

Lexar has today announced its new Professional 133x 4 GB SDHC cards. Lexar quote a minimum sustained write speed of 20 MB/sec, far beyond the fastest SDHC speed classification and hence the card carries the top label, a Class 6 (6 MB/sec).

My bad, I thought it was only a class 4, but still overpriced and undersized when compared to everything else.

Plus speed doesn't help as much as you would think unless you are always constantly filling your buffer.

I agree, for the most part you won't notice the difference in speed. However, I believe this product caters to DSLR users. When taking continuous shots, this card may be the difference between getting the right shot or not.

Nonetheless, I believe it's a decent price for this particular item.

NCIX Price $33.52

Lexar is a brand of choice, but we all know they come out of the same factory.

You talk about pros and their DSLR's .. well I am a SEMI-Pro and have a Rebel XSI, and there is no way I would use anything under 8GB nowadays. I just purchased a new 16GB.... Again, being a semi-pro photographer, I have never missed a shot due to writing to the card, as yes I do take shots in continuous mode but I always find that the camera can buffer enough shots and since its constantly writing in the background even after taking shots, the SDHC card was hardly a constraint.

This price tho is outrageous.

One search on pricecanada will give you a very quality "kingston" brand, easily pricematchable from ncix for $11.

Even with shipping/etc you are still getting hosed real bad.. and again, I dont recommend small cards anymore anyways.. get the 16GB for around 37!

This discussion is probably best continued in another forum/thread, but all class 6 cards are not alike:

It's not fair to compare the price of the two, as they are really different products that cater to different markets.

"Semi-pro" with a 450D?

Hah. The 5D Mk II is on order! I've been waiting... didn't want to invest in the 5d cause it was 3 years old... I'd rather invest in glass. The body's get outdated so fast, plus the XSi is a very capable camera, other than the ergonomic issues VS the 50D and 40D, its very good, IQ takes no hit at all.

I'd rather have nice glass, which I do:

17-40L, 70-200L 2.8 IS, 50 1.4, 100-400L IS, Tamron 17-50

And After the 5D MK II will come some more primes and a 85L.

Nice glass, too bad Nikon does not make updated AF-S primes...damnit.

Well **** I never realized that there was such a diff between different class 6's... at that speed if you are constantly filling the buffer I agree with you there hands down. I'm wrong! ;)

I havn't been paying much attention to SDHC speeds because I'm looking for a high capacity CF for my new cam anyways.
