Hi,

Wasn't sure if this was the right place to place this thread, but here goes..
I have a cottage that I rent in the summer time. Last year was the first year that it was not fully rented the whole summer. The economy was mostly to blame. This year I am predicting the same or worse turn out as last year. I would like to start early and post my cottage on more websites. It's currently on the Ontario Cottage rentals website and Cottage link.

Do you guys know of any other website that we can advertise on that you've found to be effective. Any additional information would be great.

Thanks

I would strongly suggest that you create or have a blog created, very simple and in expensive. Then create a facebook page as well. That way, people can start book marking your blog for the summer, put some pictures up so people know what to expect.

Talk about the different things people can do and see around your cottage area. Start building some following. If you need help doing it - pm me.

In the spring, you might want to start some online marketing...

Where about is your cottage? my family is a cottage renter and I am always looking for something good. Not crappy almost abandon kind of cottage. Something that is affordable for the poor people like me:)

Also, just an idea because i help some salon/spa promote their business online. I get them to promote last minute specials when their week is looking grim. That way, the chair is not empty and they can still pay their rent.

For example, in the summer, if the following week is open and you don't want it empty, offer a last minute discount/deal. Say a day or 2 before the open date.

Cheers!

Thanks guys.

I will try and set up a blog soon for the cottage and try to get a following.

Also great idea about lowering the price the week before if it's going to be vacant.

Anybody else with other sites or ideas.

Thanks

also post ads in classified sections of fishing and outdoors websites. lot of people from those sites look in the classifieds for potential vacation spots. and if one person has a great experience/catches lots of fish, they'll post up a report and get your name out there.

You can also list your cottage at Rent Cottage Canada (http://rent-cottage-canada.com)
As far as I know they do not charge for the 1st year at all. This is a Google Maps powered site and I have really enjoyed looking for a cottage there !

Hi realdeal99, I have always wondered about the feasability of renting out a cottage. How do you clean up the cottage in between renters??? And how do you get the key and give it to the next renter??? Do you actually have to physically go to the cottage and make sure everybody has left and insepect the cottage in between renters??

Thanks.

are you Yuriy Setko? It's just a coincidence that your username resembles the domain owner's name. Let me guess, its your website but you're just pretending to be some random stranger who uses that service? One thing that annoys me are fakers who post URL's to their own website but start acting like customers and add their own fake positive feedback. It's like infomercials.
