I'm looking to add a payment system to my website. I didn't build the original website, and I'm not too web savvy. He needs my paypal info and he needs access to my dreamhost ftp. How can I give out this information to my developer, someone I found off of elance, without having my either account compromised in the future. The paypal is an empty account, and not associated with a cc or a bank account.

Thank you,

M

he shouldn't need your paypal password. just the paypal email address but he'll need your ftp password if you want him to upload and maintain the site for you. if you're concerned, you can change the paypal email address and your ftp user id and password after the site is launched.

Yep, he only needs the email address associated with the paypal account, which anyone making a purchase will see so use a business email. You can also create him a sub ftp account with limited access to just the folders he needs instead of using your master account. Once he is done delete the sub account.

Like the other two mentioned, if he's asking for paypal password, I would be concerned. Paypal email is what anyone needs to integreate it with almost ALL billing/shopping cart scripts.
