You could always go door to door giving out cake samples as well, in person, rather than leave a piece of paper that'll probably not be read before being tossed. :?:

To be honest I wouldn't take cake from someone who came to my door.

Your best bet will be to set up at like a church bazzar with free cake, or a school bbq, that sort of thing.

P.s. you should post this in the small business forum.

I thought of that, then thought if the OP were to spend some serious money on nice presentation packages rather than cake on a paper plate with crinkled saran wrap over it, she'd look more professional :?:. I like your idea about a church bazaar. She could even rent an inexpensive booth at a local craft fair to sell her cakes!

Ha, sorry about that!

On a somewhat related note, do you do wedding cakes? We might be able to work something out...

I want something like this: http://www.carolynssweettooth.com/images/stefjoe05%20whole%20cake.jpg but with less layers (I just like the staircase).

Anyway, I'll PM you about it.

Have you tried the door hanger? Does it work? Just cause it's cheap doesn't mean it a good way to spend your money.

People only tend to buy cakes for a special event, I don't think I would remember some ad at my door that was 6 months before my wedding. Where as the person at a wedding show I remember because we were looking for a cake at the time.

What kind of care business? do you have a bakery?

Who are you looking to market?

I definitely don't like door hangers. If you do wedding cakes, then maybe you can work with people in that industry like make up artist, florist, etc. You can swap list or advertise on their site.

Yes, this should work at the right fair. There's a woman has a table at one of the craft fairs my wife goes to. She sets up with 4 or 5 cakes and a load of photos and basically just promotes her business there. I don't think she even sells any cake on the spot. It seems to work because she's been going there for years.
