View Full Version : Holiday Gifts, how much do you spend on clients?

Ok so were coming upto the holidays pretty quick here and i was wondering how much people spend on their existing clients around the holidays? Obvoiusly this can vary depending on a lot but i guess im just looking for a couple general rules of thumb on value. I dont wanna seem cheap and i dont want to be showering people in gift either.

Until recently i was in a position where i was showered with gifts from people looking for my business, now im in the position of trying to aquire that business. I've gotten alot of things in the past that i found utterly and completely useless and some that just made me go "wow". Anyone have any ideas of the coolest/most unique gifts they may have given or received in the past?

I think like you said, it depends on the clients.

As a recipient of corporate gifts, the one i appreciated the most are gift certificates. To make it more personal, you can can try to find out what the recipients would enjoy - are they book people or coffee people...

Ditto... depends on your clients

I use a lot of $10 coffee cards, pretty generic, not too flashy but appreciated by most people

Being from a oil driven town gift cards are the norm $100 range. What is the governments position on gift cards as promotion? Anyone know?

I used to give out wine but recently I bought a ton of smaller chocolates from Shoppers (15X the point weekend!). I give these out to the drivers/mechanics who come in. My customer list is wide and shallow. I'm also the only option they have so retaining biz isn't the goal. I used to give the wine to my biggest customers. However 1 has gone bankrupt last year (bad new management) and the others have shrank with the downturn in the US to the point I won't see them for months.
