I've registered the business as a corporation and need to pay myself a salary and pay business expenses out of this account.

CIBC pay as you go plan is $5 monthly and each additional transaction $0.80.

The Buduchnist Credit Union (http://www.buduchnist.com/business/accounts.html) offers a current account with free chequing. They're a closed bond ethnic credit union; but check with them to see if they'll open an account for you, even if you are not part of Toronto's Ukrainian community.
