The Bell website (for Alberta only) is now offering the following data plans for $0.00
Email, Internet and Multimedia for BlackBerry 40
Email, Internet and Multimedia for BlackBerry 50
Email, Internet and Multimedia for Windows 40
Email, Internet and Multimedia for Windows 50
The features are similar but I just signed up online for the "Email, Internet and Multimedia for Windows 50" and made it through the checkout with a final confirmation that it is indeed $0.00. I just got a new HTC Touch Diamond so this is an awesome deal for me. Features include:
# Unlimited Mobile Browser
# Unlimited personal email
# Unlimited Internet broswing and attachment viewing
# Windows Live Messenger
# Unlimited Full Track Music
# Media Pack
# Unlimited Text Messaging
# Unlimited GPS Nav
# US Roaming $8/MB
# Tethering via Moble Connect $8/MB
NOTE: This only appears to work if you are on the "Alberta" version. I tried using the default "Ontario" version of the site and it isn't free.

No...if it was Bell decide to withdraw the contract, no cancellation fee, (unless of course you didn't pay your bill was the cause of termination)
You know bait-and-switch is illegal in Canada.:p

My friends dad, over the phone with Bell got unlimited browsing on the HTC Diamond for $0. They said it was a special deal for the HTC Diamond.
This was in Ontario, Ottawa.

I suppose only in a debt-less province like Alberta where you can find deals like this. Giving good deal to richer people; I think the poorer ones need this more.
And yes Rogers needs to have lower rates.

You can have the phone deal if you give us the 8.3 billion in equalization payments.

So what is tethering via mobile connect?
At $8 per Megabyte, I'd like to know before I spend a thousand bucks a month on it inadvertantly.

Tethering via mobile connect is when you use your smartphone as a highspeed modem for your laptop. Bell (and most other providers) charge lots more when you start connecting your computer to your cell phone to get high speed internet. I've heard good things about "PDAnet" which allows you to bypass the restriction but haven't used it personally. It basically allows you to use the ActiveSync connection (for Windows Mobile based phones) in reverse so that Bell can't tell you are using your laptop.

Lets get back on topic. The OP didn't put much info on which part of the website shows a $0 data plan.
Does anyone know how to select the $0 data plan? Do you have to have a bell account already?

Sorry.
Goto:
- At the top of the site make sure you select "AB" as your province.
- Near the bottom is the "Personal" section. Select "Shop" and then "Mobile"
- A new page will load with Mobile phone specific offerings. Choose "Features"
- On the features page you will find a variety of $0.00 offerings under both the "Popular Features" and "Email and Internet" tabs.
I just checked and it is still up there. It's been there at least 24hrs since I first noticed it.

Not seeing it being free. It is either $40 or $50 plus your voice plan.

I just got contacted by Bell to say that it was an error and they will not be honoring it. I'm furious because I signed a 3 yr contract to get the phone with the plan.
What should have been $34/month (voice+data) is now $84/month (voice+data).
I also re-visited the Bell site and the pricing has indeed been changed from $0 to $40 and $50 respectively.

you should be able to return everything at ZERO cost...
they are breaking the contract they offered you originally.
