I started playing Resistance 2 a few hours ago.
IMHO it is a bit better than GOW2.
The game is a bit harder on "normal" than GOW2.
Graphics are amazing and the AI seems pretty good.
Well worth getting this game if you have PS3.

The scale of the enviroments are HUGE as are the enemies. Makes you feel insignificant in comparison.

I got the game on release day and havent touched single player campaign yet.
Been hooked onto 8 player co-op. Its really fun and with good team work, makes the mode alot of fun. teamwork is the key as everyone needs to rely on each other to survive and feed off each other.
I dont like playing with guys that are rambo and try to kill everything themselves. Maybe we can set-up a RFD group for online co-op.
Super strokey

I got this on release day as well and freaking love it, really fun to play. Graphics are a good 9 out of 10 or maybe 9.5. Really nice looking game with just a few issues.
Plays great too and there is just so many damn things to do. I love the game, seriously its the best FPS i have played in a while. More people should play it

I am stuck. I am on roof where you have to lure the gigantic beast under the bridge so that the demolition guys can blow up the bridge.
Well I lure the beast by firing rockets at it but each and every time the beast smashes the roof with his hand and kills me. I have no clue where to run or hide.
Any help?
UPDATE: There is no demolition guys - you have to shoot a rocket into the bridge above the beasts head when it is under the bridge and then keep firing rockets into the beasts head until it dies.
This game is very fun because the story line is good and there is a lot of scenery changes which makes it constantly exciting.
No boring like Fallout 3

is it necessary to play resistance 1 to get the story-line?

No you dont need to play Resistance 1. The plot is that there is a virus that creates the Chimera. It starts in Russia ands spreads across Europe to England. Your objective is to kill the Chimera.
I think Resistance1 is only $30 now so it is not expensive to try it out.

I finished the campaign mode in about 12 hours
My "Experience Gained" score was 523,550
I must say that this game rates pretty high on the "Adrenaline Rush" scale
Now to go online

Was it as boring as Resistance 1? I liked Resistance 1, but the locals were boring, vehicle segments clearly suffer from Halo Syndrome, and almost no variety in enemies. I want to pick up R2, but it's pretty low on my list of want.

How do you guys feel about playing shooters on console?
I think it's just as fun as playing on PC, but it takes some time getting used to playing with a gamepad. I used to play shooters on PC exclusively, but now I only play games on my PS3 and I haven't upgraded my PC for years. I just prefer playing with surround sound on my 46" LCD. :D
My order from amazon says "shipping soon" so hopefully it ships today.

Slightly OT: is there a quality 3rd-party controller that is bigger than the standard PS3 controller? I have no problems with the standard controller with most games but, when it comes to FPSers, I cut my teeth on Halo and I need that bigger controller to get a good feel.

I totally agree about the controller. Logitech makes one but it needs a separate dongle as it is not bluetooth. The old Logitech PS2 controllers were my favourite controllers
Here is a Globe and Mail review of the game

hey quick question,
if you hated the first one, will you like this one. I love first person shooters but just couldn't get into the first one. Possibly because at the time i was playing a lot of cod 4.

I have a question, does this game have offline modes for four players like the first one? For example, can we do 4 player split screen offline deathmatch or team deathmatch?

YOu guys want to play together co-op some time?
i've leveled up my classes evenly thus far. Its darn addictive. Soldier is the hardest one to level up if your teammates dont play nice and give ammo.

I'm in but can only play Friday and Saturday. My PSN is my avatar and RFD name.
I've only played 1 level of coop with my sister and i got a soldier to level 3. The only thing that bothers me is i have to fnish the Chicago thing 5 times to move on and it was ridiculously difficult the first few times.
The game is addicting though and still haven't finished single player campaign. I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to try and finish a game as fast as possible. I like to sit and enjoy a game for a hour and move on and play it again some time later (sort of like weekly TV shows). Its due to time management but also so I don't burn out the interest I have in a game. For example, I only through the first 4 main levels of LBP and its been 2 weeks and I still thoroughly enjoy the game.

you've played a lot as well.
Thats good for Spec op. When I was playing offline, my soldier kept running out of ammo so I had to purposely die in order to restock.

Cool.
I have been asked to be on clans as i dont play like some guys where they run off all over the place and play like they are rambo trying to kill everything there is LOL
I have however turned them down as I can not promise to commit myself to playing at set times either as i have wife and kid.
The best way to finish off the maps faster is to join in games that are in progress. That way they might be 1/2 way or near the end of the stage so that it would be marked as complete for your records.
You can then go back to playing the stages from staging later on when you have time.

LOL
I play almost everynite from 11pm til 2am.
Ive played with some players that have lvl25+ classes. Medics are the easiest class to lvl up as you can be top of the leader board with just under 10 kills. Just stay behind everyone and heal them, you'll rack up points like crazy.
The hardest class for me to lvl up is the soldier as you really need to depend on the other two to help you out. but they can deal heavy damage with their chain gun.

Pretty good game, love the co-op mode
The cloaked chameleons in single player are lame.
You walk into a room here two stomps and you are dead...

How do you guys feel about playing shooters on console?
its awesome! you know why? because everyone has the same SPECS.
One thing that bothers me at time with the pc fps is that everyone has a different mouse, keyboard, joystick, etc which might make the game more unfair. Everyone that has a system has the exact same controller, making it much more fair.
Not to mention, WAYYYYYYYY less hacks

Its reset now, so I'm good.
Whats wrong with offline anyways?

With the spec op, you ahve to spam with the R1 and R2 and ammo. The R2 (2ndary fire) is a great way to get faster kills and xp points. The marksman is a great weapon, but lacks in holding very little ammo. The invisibility berserk is great in sneaking up on guys and headshot them or running up to plant mines at the entrances of where enemies come out. Masssive XP points when they walk on them LOL

Offline is not too bad if you are playing with two players, but being a soldier wont work. it can only be two medics or 1 medic and one spec op.
there's no way a soldier can be healed or offered ammo as the other player can only choose one class.
I sometimes play offline by myself with spec op or medic. With the spec op, its a bit harder as i ahev to keep my distance and snipe them from far and zap them with the orbs to see where the enemies are.
Playing online shouldnt take alot of bandwidth at all.

To get XP these are the easiest classes to level in order
1) Medic
2) Spec Ops
3) Soldier
I have been playing Spec Ops only. Got it up to level 21 so far and it seems to get much better as you unlock more gear, especially faster reload upgrade, and more ammo per clip upgrade.
I usually finish second behind a medic now, sometimes I even beat the medic, but it took 216 kills to do that one :P

Depends on how you define it, I believe there are 7 maps, with each needing to be completed about 10 times
That should get you to around level 30, but probably not enough grey tech to get all upgrades :P
To actually complete 100% all co-op it is waaaaaaaaay longer than the single player.

Do you only get to choose one upgrade to use each time or can you use all the upgrades together??

Just bought this game and im about 2 hours into the single player campaign... this game is great.. nice big bosses.. tons of bad guys running at you at the same time... the shotgun is great as is the slowed-down sniper rifle.. multi player is alright too but not that great... prob will beat the game once or twice then sit on my shelf... maybe then get cod:waw!
