This thread must have been done a thousand times, but I just wanted to know how many RFD'ers invert the Y-axis in console games.
I can only play with the y-axis inverted.. it comes naturally, however it makes no sense when I actually think of.. Up is Down. Down is Up
By the way, Im left-handed as well.. wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Same with me, it's Invert Y-Axis all the way. I've been playing this way for so long now, it's natural and can't go back. (I'm right handed)

It comes with practise. Im right-handed.
I remember playing flight sims back then eg (Battle over Britian and Star Wars X-wing) the controls are inverted. After some time you get use to it. Especially with intense dogfights you dont think twice of which way to go.
Alot of earlier 1st person shooters I was use to playing that way as well.
I can actually play either way as from gaming from so many years it takes a matter of minutes to get use to the control and know which is up and down.
Nowadays I just prefer normal Y-axis so I dont need to change the controls for friends that come over to play.

Airplane games or games w/ vehicles = always inverted.
Otherwise = can't for the life of me.

I used to be inverted only but somehow I changed over to normal.

Inverted Y-axis. Don't remember when I started it but thats how I play my shooters. Now if we are talking about the X-axis then I get confused. For FPSs it's normal, but for camera control it is some times inverted some times normal, and for third person shooters I get all confused :S

Always Inverted from duke-nukem/quake/doom days for FPS.
I'm trying to figure out which I'm more comfortable with in third person shooters now.. still trying to decide between the two.

I play inverted. It's more natural for FPS. Pulling your mouse back, is like tilting your head up, therefore you should look up. Pushing mouse forward is like tilting head forward.

I play normal but a buddy of mine and my bro use inverted.

inverted axis does make sense. When you push "up"/"forward" on the joystick, its like your tilting your gun forward to aim at something down.
That being said I use inverted for single stick FPS (ie goldeneye) and flight sims, and regular for dual stick FPS.

i can use both for any game.
but then obviously there are preferences for which games using inverted or normal.

I am the exacted same way. Any game involving flying, I have to play with it inverted; anything else is normal y-axis.

I only play inverted, except for on PC. I think it might have something to do with playing so many flight sims when I was younger.

I'd be curious to see it that's age related.. all the older gamers (ie: ~25+) must use inverted because of the old flight games that only supported inverted (C-64 days for example). At least that's my excuse for always using inverted. :D

A lot of older gamers didn't have as many FPS games as we do today, so it makes sense. Makes perfect sense if you pull down on the joystick in a flying game, you move up, and vice-versa. But in shooters, it's obvious if you look up you're going to press up.

Inverted Y-axis; I played X-Wing and Tie Fighter with a mouse back in the day... I'm sure that has something to do with it.

Sounds like someone who's less than 25.. If you were like us, you'd see that it's not as easy as it sounds. It's hardwired in our brain or something like that, FPS or not!

inverted for all.... goldeneye + flight sims. my brothers all think I'm weird (always have to pause game when switching controllers), but I have a couple of friends who also prefer it that way.

I have been playing with an inverted y-axis ever since the Goldeneye days. Non-inverted? What's that?

normal, no inversion, whether it be cs or dual stick fps's on console games. On the other hand, I haven't played nor do I play flight sim/aerial combat games, so I'm pretty sure that has something to do with it.

Normal.
Inverted is messed up and makes no sense whatsoever.
Goldeneye is inverted?????? I use to play that thing the whole time and never noticed anything.
if it is, my preference is definitely for normal especially in this day and age of gaming.

Another vote for y-axis inverted ONLY. I'm totally screwed up if it's not...

This is interesting. I have been using INVERTED forever but I never knew why (nor do I now). I don't get why it is not the default setting.
FTR, I never played flight sims

I don't think or noticed it until I saw this thread.
I play flight sims with inverted but everything else with standard.
